how long does it take you to bring to life a completed custom?
your longest custom ever your shortest custom what was your hardest custom well for me i dont have any hobby shops near by so i cant just run out and get paints and brushes blades or dremel parts. i have some customs that are 2 years old but i have put some of my older ones on hold until i get some of my 25th ones done |

It takes me about three days when I do it in my spare time. Which probably translate to 3 to 4 hours depending on the difficulty. Here is my latest creation

It just depends. I tend to have customizing A.D.D. and work on several things at once. Currently on my desk is a reworking of Serpentor...been working almost a month, A new Skyhawk...sitting there a little more than a month, 12" Aaron Eckhart sculpt...past two weeks and phase 1 is almost done. Then again, I made Keel Haul in a five hour span and that includes waiting for paint to dry and such nonsense.

I guess Im just super fast, I have been modding minitures and models for years and I can complete a figure in a couple of hours if I have the parts I need. Lamprey was about an Hour?
Night Viper maybe 2? My longest one was probably my Mignola style Batman I made from a Lobster Johnson Figure , he was about 6 hours but I had to cut and resculpt his head . Banzai was probably the easiest and shortest, i did him in about half an hour. Its really dependant on supplies for me.

it really depends on how excited i am to complete the particular figure i'm working on and how much work/paint said figure needs...some can take me as little as a couple hours, others can take a few days...and some i will think are complete but then i will go back and re-do, so does that count for all the time in between?...and am i waiting on parts?...
i guess typically, for the most part, i will say an average of 2-3 days if i have all the things i need to complete one... |

Longest custom for me...was a little over 9 months, being done in evenings and weekends. It was a Barbie doll size doll house for my daughter. 2 floors, one car garage...just about everything on it I had to make or customize to fit. It's made out of 3/8" plywood...and weighs around 65 lbs to each half of the house - I made the front half with garage attached, and then the back half. Spent alot of time hunting down miniature wooden parts at alot of craft stores...btw, balsa wood molding is about as much fun applying as regular molding in a house is. lol
Thank heavens I had access to AutoCAD at work to make the blueprints up for it.

My shortest custom was probably one of my figures where I just touched up a few things. On average I takes me about 4 to 5 hours of actual work to make a custom figure so that no joints rub and have no paint rubs anywhere on the figure and that is stretched over 3 or 4 days. My Longest and hardest custom is easily my Halo 3 Warthog Vehicle. I had to hand make everything and had to super glue each piece together. I think after it was all said and done with I easily had 100 hours of work put into and that was over several months time. Im just now getting ready to start a Halo 3 Hornet from scratch and I'm hoping to get it done before the end of the year if possible. For those of you that have never seen it here is a link to it along with some WIP pics that show the progess.

I like reworking vehicles. I started on this thunder machine about 6 months ago. An hour here and a hour there. About 18 hours total so far on it. Its feels organic to me, I still feel there is some more to do on it but its about 90% there.
On the other burner I have a hiss tank with head lights and "fangs" I'm working on. About 3 hours on it so far. I feel its about 15% done, still have a lot to do on it.

i think my quickest was 5 to 6 hours. the hardest part is finding parts. there's only so much you can do with comic pack figures. which is all that hangs here. i have many projects going on at once. i have 7 vechicles and 5 figures i am working on now. all in various stages of completion.
