First let me apologize for being one of THOSE guys--I collect ONLY Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow figures. Sorry, but I grew up with Hama's comics, and LOVE LOVE LOVE their back story! Plus, I have to limit myself in some way, or I'd have to raise my personal debt ceiling 100-fold. ;)
Anyway, if you are not familiar with issue #104, Storm Shadow sends Snakes off to rescue George Strawhacker, former fiance of his dead sister, so as to stop the downward spiral of depression that Snakes was experiencing with Scarlett's presumed-to-be brain dead coma. Snakes is wearing his outfit with the dual knives on his chest, along with a brown trenchcoat, and--at one point--no mask. His face has two scars: one above his left eye, and one at the right corner of his mouth. I plan on using the 2008 Snakes (V34) with removable dual knives, minus the arms and head. I will be using 2008 (or 2010) Cobra Commander's trenchcoat and arms. And finally, I will be waiting for the Renegades version of Duke coming out this fall. I will be using his head (perfect for longer/not crew cut blond hair, blue eyes, NOT smiling). I plan on using an exacto blade to slice the scars into Duke's head, and am wondering about lightly applying a pinkish color to those scars. Using a toothpick and applying a slight amount of acrylic paint is my thought--or just leaving the cut scars, and no color. What are your thoughts here? Am I right to be using acrylic paints? Okay--now the major painting is ONLY in the trenchcoat and arms from C.C. They need to be a brown/semi-greenish hue (I have to check the comic again). Once again, I have to ask about acrylic paints. Are these the paints to use (the coat is rubber as opposed to the plastic figure itself)? If so, does it matter what company makes the acrylic paint (model master? Delta Creamcoat?)? I sure know Testors are NOT what I should be using, as they remain sticky. Do I need to apply a primer coat first? If so, should it be acrylic primer? Never done this before... Also, I've been reading threads, and it appears that some of you do NOT recommend clear coating (remember, it's really only for the coat), while others recommend Testors dull coat, and still others Vallejo Matt Varnish 520. Your thoughts? I'm completely new to customs, but used to make my fair share of model kits in my youth.

Yeah, I looked at that coat, but the belt cuts across the body and has a hood. Just not as close as C.C.'s coat matches.
Right after I posted this, I found someone who did this custom a year ago. Well, his face on the S.E. body I'm using, minus the trenchcoat. Here it is: Insidious Customs: The Ultimate Action Figure Art: Snake Eyes (V3) Custom Action Figure Art from G.I. JOE

Thanks! Glad I've got company. ;)
I will have to wait for Duke to be released, but you can bet I'll post pics...especially since I think this will be a relatively easy mod/custom to complete.
