I posted this in the customs section over at tfw2005 but haven't gotten any response...can anyone help?
Just wondered what is the easiest way to make a custom box? I want to turn my Indy cargo truck into a Cobra vehicle and make a custom box for it...I thought about just printing a slipcase and putting over the original box, but I want to have a window so you can see the actual truck.....Any ideas? |

Print up the graphics you make for the box design on card stock...paint the box in the background color you chose for the graphics (that way they blend together)...then apply the card stock graphics with spray adhesive.

Yep, photoshop is the key. Just make sure you measure everything exactly.

For high quality printing, set your PPI (or DPI) to either 300 or 360. That'll be fine for the size you're working with. PPI is found under the Image Size option.
To keep your margins clean, use guide lines. Just drag your mouse from the ruler bar over to where you want it set, or you can specify under the Add New Guide option. It'll help you keep everything straightened out. Since most boxes don't have perfectly sharp, squared corners, you may want to add 1/8" to the edges for folding purposes. When you fold the sides, top, and bottom over, you don't want to run short. Hope these tips help. |
