You can try heating it with a hair drier. Sometimes it will soften the parts and they return to their original shape, which tightens them up.

Also depending on what part is loose there are a few other things you can do. Like flipping the friction plugs on the legs (Take the thighs aparts and flip those little white discs that sit against the steel bar) You can also add clear nail polish to joints (Just make sure to take the joints apart first!) to tighten them up

While on topic of being new to customizing, I never really had interest in this until I saw this forum.
Paint-wise, what are your favorite paints, i.e. what brand and what type works best for you guys? Also, do you sand or primer before you paint, or just wash the figs, or do nothing and just straight paint them?

Now, you know if you ever want to get together to learn some stuff, I'm always open to it.

I sometimes use Tamiya, it's a little goopy for me though (Haven't tried thinning it out yet) Testors Model Masters is my primary paint. I typically don't sand or prime anything other than sanding joints down so that they don't rub paint off
Eopie, If you're ever near Greensboro, Hobbytown USA has a whole rack of Tamiya paints, even some of the spray paints |
