I am looking at building a warehouse dio and I was wondering what is the best way to cut doors and windows into plywood.
Is there a tool that is a must have to do this? Will a Dremel Stylus be good to use? I have no skills and no tools so basically I am strating from scratch and hoping for the best. Any help will be appreciated |

I recommend a scroll saw or band saw if you must use plywood. You might be able to rent these from a home improvement center too. If you go with a thinner or weaker wood, Dremel should work for you.

I would use a jigsaw to cut your windows and doors.

I have never used a jigsaw before, can you just place it where you want to cut and cut or do you need to do something else first? Example, I want to cut a window in the middle of the plywood. Do I have to make a cut to get the jigsaw blade in or can I just put the jigsaw over where I want to cut and just cut? Last edited by TheFallen; 04-20-2011 at 09:20 PM.. |

You would need to drill a hole in each corner of what you're trying to cut out, then use the jigsaw to connect the dots, very simple. Afterwards use sandpaper to get your opening to the desired smoothness.

I've seen people use the saw at an angle to get their cut started but it can make a mess out of your work if you're not careful.

I recommend a dremil or a router with a wood bit.
Easier to handle then a jigsaw, more control and gets into tight spots. |

So the drilled hole needs to be the size of the saw blade so it can get started?

To do a window with a jigsaw, you will want to drill a hole in the center of the window to use as a starting point for your cut. Other than that, just place it where you want it. Maybe clamp a straightedge to use as a guide if you want a nice straight cut.
