Hi. Never used Greenstuff but it seems pretty popular. I was wondering, is it better than Sculpey? What are the advantages?
Can I buy it at Michael's or Hobby Lobby and places like that? Thanks!

Scupley ate right through my Serpentor's legs, Green stuff works excellent though, but is hard to come by at retail unless you have a Games workshop store, or an independent game store that sells D&D stuff.
Green stuff is very user friendly too, I'm no expert or nothing, but even I've used it with passable results. |

Green stuffy is very sticky/tacky...so you need to keep your fingers moist as you work. You can order it from tons of places online.
Green Stuff 6strip RPR 75006 Unless you're working on bigger figures, I recommend the strips over the tubes as you can cut yourself smaller pieces more quickly and easily. |

I'll elaborate some.
Green stuff, Aves, and other 2 part compounds must be mixed and you'll have an hour or a little more to sculpt before they harden. They are sticky, but you'll get used to dipping a tool in water in exchange for a piece that isn't going to break when a figure falls over. Hardening on it's own is good since it's simpler and compounds that require heat may have their surface altered some by hot water or the oven. Sculpey has its own merits and disadvantages. With regular white sculpey, I have found that in it's soft form it has had a weird melty reaction when left on plastic for a while. I've never experienced it with Super Sculpey, but it may happen there too, but it will be fine once it's hardened. Super Sculpey is less brittle than regular and I find it easier to work with than the regular kind or 2 part compounds, but I've still had pieces break easily, for example one of the horns on my avatar there. It glues back easily enough, but the thing never quite feels like a toy. A nice benefit to being hardened with heat(I microwave a mug of water near boiling and drop the figure it until the water cools) is that you can take breaks to harden what you've worked on and then keep going without worrying about mashing up the parts that your happy with or having to set the piece aside until the next day. I say get both. Grab a tiny block of Super Sculpey or the colored Sculpey 3 from a craft store while you wait for some Aves or something to arrive in the mail since it's not typically in stores. That way you've got the benefits of each at your disposal. Sculpey's fine for belts and details that aren't raised to the point where they'll snap. A Wolverine mask or something demands the 2 part stuff. Jin Saotome's Dangerous Toys! Custom action figures, Marvel Legends, Transformers, guides The guides and tutorials here have detailed descriptions of Aves products and how to use them, as well as links to buy. I'm honestly very lazy and cheap so I've never used it. I tried that Mighty Putty repair stuff, which is a 2 part compound. It ends up durable as a rock, but it cures in like 5 minutes. No good. Later, I found a 2 part compound used for making role playing minatures at my local bookstore and it's been pretty decent and very durable. |

Hey cliffsteele, go to the Games workshop store in Rochester or Great Lakes Crossing, they've got it there!
