Okay, it will be painfully obvious that I'm new here. I've been a Joe fan since 1st grade when the RAH line started. I was stoked when the 25th's came out, and I did a lot of online research and realized there is a lot of customizing going on out there, and I wanted to do some. So, right now, I'm an amatuer at best and a poser at worst.
Anyway, I have heard of Dremels before, but never owned one. I was at Walmart today and saw that they had a few models, ranging in price from $20 to $70, and there was also an assortment of accessories.
My question is, which model do you more experienced folks recommend and what accessories do you find yourself using the most often with your customs?

I have never tried a dremel on a 25th,it might be overkill on something so small. If you don't learn how it jerks around you could do some serious damage to a 25th.I have heard the cheaps are just as good as the high dollar ones.

i have a cordless one tha comes in quite handy sometimes, drilling small holes some grinding to get joints to fit better when mixing and matching parts, or adding hair detail even, it's also good for grinding/sanding down any sculpting you may encounter...as for bits, you'll have to play that by ear when the need arises...also, the part that holds the bits comes in a couple different sizes depending on the diameter of the bit shank...there is a mutil pack that comes with all the sizes for i think $7 - $8...mine Dremel only came with one size so i bought that pack

I use a Dremel Multipro 7.2v model 770. It's cordless, comes with a carrying case, charger, and a box of attachments. and I think it was around $28 at Target. It's all you will need for customizing 25ths.

I've been wondering the same thing and have also been looking at dremels. I saw one today that was really small and looked like it would be easy to handle and compfortable to hold, but it connects to an air compressor. I think all that noise would drive me crazy while trying to concentrate on details. When I do buy one I'm going to get el cheapo, if it turns out I suck at customizing at least I only spent $20 to figure it out.

I got the $50 dollar model, not sure off the top of my head...but I use a lot of the little ball shaped attachemnts and a larger tear dropped shaped one for doing the shoulder pockets and leg pockets. Doesn't take much to learn how to use it.

I have 2 different ones... A yr plus battery one that i use while watching tv (less bite if i loose concentration) and a new Black and Decker model when I really want to grind down or cut... Really good for converting parts for other toylines or just to 25th Ann compatible.
