It was 3 years ago that tragedy would strike three of the Batman's allies. The war with the Joker had come to an end with his capture and incarceration in Arkham. Little did anyone know that only played into the madman's hand as he was no free to operate his empire from his cell with no one the wiser. Acting through Dr. Harleen Quinzel, the Joker's gangs followed their master's grand scheme: vengence upon the 3 people who lead to Joker's downfall: Harvey Dent, Commissioner James Gordan, and the Batman. With this trinity out of the way, Gotham would quickly descend into the chaos that had become Joker's MO.
The plan began perfectly, with Dent's abduction and mutilation at the hands of a faux Batman. Gordan however was saved by his daughter, Officer Barbara Gordan, who took the round meant for her father, leaving her a paraplegic. But the worst tragedy was yet to come.
Following weeks of surveillance, the Joker believed he had uncovered the lair of the Batman. His ego not allowing his foe to perish at another's hand, Joker was smuggled out of Arkham and led the assault personally. Entering an underground bunker and discovering a workshop housing a new Batmobile, success was almost guaranteed, it was simply a matter of waiting. When the elevator did descent into the bunker, the passenger was revealed as not being the Batman but a young mechanic who aided him named Jason Todd. The next several hours were the worst of the boy's life. Refusing to betray the Bat to the Joker, Todd was slowly tortured to death and his body hung from Gotham Courthouse. Shortly after, Jason Todd was buried beside his previously deceased parents.
A new figure has recently appeared in Gotham, challenging the ruling gangs and the mob rule of bosses like Penguin and Black Mask. He fights like the Bat, but utilizes lethal techniques to dispatch his foes. This new vigilant would start what would lead to the downfall of the Batman...
The Red Hood
"That bag contains the heads of your lieutenants. It took me two hours to do that. Imagine what I could do in an entire night."
In my 'verse, Jason was never a Robin, but a mechanic who helped Batman. Wayne figured that let the boy aid him but keep him safe from harm. With his design, I took the helmet from the Under the Red Hood film, but made it larger so it looked like an actual helmet.
