I was able to pick up a Serpentor and Beachead the other day. I really like these, but Serpentors head paint was...horrible and Beachead was too tall for me.
Serpentor's prototype's head sculpt looked pretty nice but then the paint on it really made him look just bad. I also added very minor detail to the helmet. I painted the bottom fang on the side of his head and also the eyes on the helmet. Makes it look a bit more menacing I feel. Beachead is a great figure but a bit too tall and his boots seemed to throw off his proportions a bit so they got cut right after the top strap and then glued back on. Nothing too crazy here but I thought some people may enjoy looking at the pictures. Serpentor Beachead (height adjustment) |

Wow! Not only does Serpentor's helmet look 100% better, but you did an awesome job on his face. The brows and hair give him the look of a real emperor. Why couldn't Hasbro do this?

squeee666,
I don't know I was wondering why Hasbro didn't do this either. I always felt that Serpentor carried alot of his attitude from the Romans so I really liked the idea of giving him the "roman haircut" Outback, Depends on what you go by. If you go by the cartoon he is roughly avg height. if you go by the comic-it depends on the issue. For me Beachead is about 5'10. So since 5'8 is avg give or take he would still be above avg at 5'10. But if you like the character tall then you'll definately love the figure how he comes out of the package because he is a bit too tall proportionate wise as well. But to each their own. Thanks again! OK, I have to know....how did you make Beachhead shorter? I personally like him the way he is, but to make one of these figures shorter sounds like it'd take a mad genius with a shrink ray

Great job on the Serpentor, I gotta try that. Beach Head looks more in scale now. What kind of glue do you use, and does it hold well?

jignacio 2K,
Thanks I'm alot happier with the figure now too. Last night I kept saying I was going to wait until today to do the changes but I ended up just doing it and been enjoying hte figure all day. Shogi, Here is a picture that I posted at a few of the other sites. Bascially I cut the boot off at the pant cuff and the top of the boot. Then I sliced the booth off right above the thrid strap and then glued it on. Here is thepicture Xhair As always thanks for the comments and compliments buddy I'm glad you like the figures. GI Flow Thanks I'm glad you like them both. Actually when I looked at Beachhead I tried to figure out what made him out of scale. His head, arms and torso all looked pretty good and so did his legs all the way until I got to his boots and I realized they were a bit too tall. So once I eyeballed how he would look with the reduced height I felt he would look more to scale and figured out how much of the boot to slice away to get him to look how I wanted. AS far as the glue I use a glue called "Goop" the stuff is almost like rubber cement but seems more durable. It glues everything togeather and I've never been disapointed with it. REally good stuff. |
