I've been lurking for a while, so now I've decided to finally start sharing some stuff that I've done.
While I'd say the focus of my collection is 3 3/4" figures, I've built up a large quantity of 12" figures over the years as well. Obviously there's a whole world of 1/6 scale military uniforms, weapons and equipment made by dozens of different companies on the market today. And while I could spend hundreds of dollars on an individual figure with exacting details and perfectly scaled reproductions of everything imaginable, I have set a self-imposed limit on myself to only use items made by Hasbro. 99% of the uniforms, weapons and gear used in my 12" customs come from GI Joe products, with the other 1% being a very specific item that I got from another company like Soldiers of the World that still looks like the same "play grade" level as something made by Hasbro. I've found that this self-imposed limit has helped me to be more creative and it's been more fun to see what I could come up with rather than just buying something "perfect" from Dragon, Hot Toys, or whatever. As bad as the 12" GI Joe figures of the last few years have sometimes been, there are a lot of things that Hasbro did very well in 1/6 scale over the last 20 years. I guess my goal is to create customs that show what Hasbro is capable of in the 1/6 scale. All that being said..... here's my take on a "real world" Leatherneck. 100% Hasbro made GI Joe. The M-4 is a custom with the barrel and grenade launcher from an M-16 attached to the main housing and stock of an M-4. Ammo and grenade pouches hold 2 magazines and 2 grenades each. M1911 pistol has a removable magazine and spring loaded slide. Last edited by BradMan; 03-25-2010 at 03:41 PM.. |

Great figure man! I like the use of all Joe stuff. It blows my mind that Hasbro has all the uniform patterns, head/body molds and weapon molds to make figures like this and still come out with the figures they make.

Awesome work. I've just gotten into the 1/6 scale Joes. They're awesome for customization.

Bradman - I was just wondering if that head would make a good Leatherneck, and you did it for me.
I kinda stick to Hasbro as a base for figures, everything else I try to use from what I have. |

I've got the Valor vs. Venom Bazooka head on another figure that's part of my special forces group. That version has the more trimmed Tom Selleck Magnum P.I. looking mustache, whereas this one from the 25th Anniversary version almost has a handlebar look going on. It also looks a bit more gruff and all that together just said "Leatherneck" to me.
