***UPDATED!!!!***
new pics at bottom of this post so its not quite done yet but i made some progress today... if you dont already know, i am active duty US Navy. and when in uniform i look almost identical to THIS (minus pistol, holster, and M4 rifle, of course. lol) (as you can see i really need to find some skinny lower arms, or i need to hit the gym lol) same head from my earlier self custom 25th LBC self custom - HissTank.com - G.I. Joe (duke with hair/eyebrows painted dark brown) shipwreck body with red chevrons carefully scraped off painted boots/belt black painted anchorless buckle silver added white t-shirt custom painted "correct" US Navy rank patch (E5) custom painted Surface Warfare patch i'll swap out the shipwreck thighs for storm shadow as soon as i can find some flat dark blue paint. would like to swap out the lower arms/hands for skinnier, gloveless versions but hasbro doesnt really offer any at the moment. also needs a dark blue "command ballcap". otherwise, i'm really pleased with how this is turning out so far! ************************ UPDATE! here is the 99% finished version of yours truly thanks to daremo who sent me a spare hawk v2 head, and some mutt williams arms i amputated and re-attached to shippy's sleeves, this self custom is nearly perfect! the only thing i'm considering now is storm shadow thighs because i dont really wear a holster/pistol to work. here are the pics! hat on (gotta link the next two pics due to exceeding 6 pics per post) hat off (much better likeness with the hawk head, thanks daremo!!!) http://i44.tinypic.com/2rhn1qe.jpg hard at work, doing IT stuff... http://i44.tinypic.com/11h52es.jpg

you weren't kidding around when you said you were gonna do it...you need to also include a self potrait for comparisons sake...
if you have a spare CC laying around (who doesn't) his upper thighs are also a good holsterless swap... looks good, clean and simple... |

thanks guys!
eddie, yeah you really inspired me with your custom, and i intend to supply a self portait, in uniform, as soon as i get my haircut. i'm a bit out of regs at the moment. as for the thighs, i really like the CC legs, but it still has those two straps on the left leg. i just might try using his lower legs with shippy's boots though. they look less "bell bottom". the navy got rid of those dungaree pants about 7 years ago. we now have straight leg pants made of a cotton/polyester blend. the SS/CC leg combo would be perfect. i have all the parts, just need some gosh darn flat blue! still stumped on the lower arms though.

actually... i was just thinking of a way to fix that.
fill in the buckle with super glue, let it harden, cut a matching sized piece of chrome mylar tape. PRESTO! uniform inspection = OUTSTANDING! pics later...

okay i cobled together the legs.
*FYI: CC knees will not fit the pegs inside SS thighs! had to swap SS knees into CC lower legs. that said: CC lower legs SS Knees/thighs (i painted my legion SS black and didnt bother doing the knee pegs yet) i think i'll go for it once i find some frigging flat dark blue!

It's looking real good. If you're still looking for a good blue, try Testors Model Masters Acryl Dunkelblau RLM 4773. It matches up perfectly with Ship's pants. Not sure which arms you could use though, I'll have to give that some thought.
