Here's a few more pics of the project, the amphib's deck is painted black but I'm not happy w/ it for some reason....
The first is an overhead, and the second is a length wise shot from the bow. Third is the LRRP Team of SFC Snake Eyes, SSG Storm Shadow, SSG Dart, SGT's Med Alert & Recoil and SEAL2 Tigershark lifting off in a Little Bird MH-6 Little Bird piloted by CWO2 Snake Shit and his co pilot MAJ Altitude. SGT Stone is in all 3 putting a pair of Green Shirt Recruits through a PT session. |

It's a great layout for the project I am looking forward to your use of the pvc pipe for launch tubes...because if it works...consider that idea stolen! As far as your flight deck, black is of course always the best choice. If you were to cover the wood in DAP spackle smooth it out and let it dry then paint it it You wouldnt see the wood grain. Or get a piece of blank veneer tack or glue to the surface and roll your black paint on to it, scuffing it with sandpaper will give it a bit of texture. Lastly is to get epoxy based paint in black...add extra sand that has a gritty texture and roll it on to what you currently have.

Did some work on the launch tubes for the Firebat and the Trouble Bubble this evening. Hopefully I can find a Stiletto cheap on Ebay and make a launch tube for it.
4 Trouble Bubbles, 2 Firebats a in the tubes, a few FANG's and a Mamba should round out the aircraft on this one. I can't remember if Cobra ever had any Helo's for troop transport. Anyone know of a place to get a 1:18 Hind? |

I'm really interested in your project here, I myself had thought the scale issue with a CVN I would solve by giving the joes a light carrier instead so the overall scale would be more realistic (Nimitz a little over 1,000 feet long, 1,000 divided by 18 is 55.5 feet long!!) and I love your idea about the launch tubes, so I hope you haven't given up on this cool project you have a lot of great ideas |
