Well there's always going to be a difference of opinion. Many ninjas actually dressed "normal" and disguised themselves as peasants to either get close or to secretly guard a target they've been hired to protect.
Jin's urban ninja has this same aspect applied to it. Most modern takes are the overplayed black clothed ninja, or the super sleek armored ninja in spandex. If ninjas did exist, they may take up disguises in this manner to blend in. If he was simply just trying to make a ninja that can break dance, I don't think I would have voted for him. Tenchu was my second choice. |

A special thanks to Daremo for sponsoring this contest, and thanks to all who entered and voted!
Jin - Personally, I thought your feudal Ninja was the best of your 3, and I'm suprised it didn't get many votes. Your future Ninja reminded me of something like "Bionic Commando" more so than a Ninja, especially without the SE sword. Btw, where does he put the sword when not in use? Your urban Ninja still shocks me a bit, since it looks more like a hip-hop trendy urban teenager who just happens to carry a pair of chuks and a knife. Now a shoulder bag full of spray-paint cans would have gone further with this guy ! Good designs for customs, but they never struck me as Ninja. Just my 2 cents, but good job though. TTT - What exactly do you mean, "not going there"? What? You can't even say "good job"? Anyway... I actually liked your Dragon God, but only for the excellent paint job. This is another one that didn't strike me as a Ninja. It's a cool looking custom fig without a doubt, but it looks way too mythological for me. Maybe if it had a little more of the human element...I don't know. And let's face it, I can totally see this guy growing to 300 ft and punching it out with the Power Rangers. No disrespect, but that was my first thought when I saw it. Stellar paints apps though, and I mean that. Overall, it would have been nice to see more originality and more custom weapons/accessories. This contest was truly geared for everyone to let loose and get much more creative. Most attempted this at least, so kudos for your efforts. I'm a little dissappointed with the use of existing characters that we all know have Ninja backgrounds, but they were still cool to see. As for my 2 entries - I really can't understand how a 2 hour parts swap and repaint gets more votes than the 4" version of a 12" fig with much more authentic attire and details. What gives? The again, it's usually the simplist of customs that get the most attention anyway. I've experienced that many times. Anyway, I'd love to hear peoples reasons as to why they picked Tek over Tenchu. To me, Tenchu is the epitome of a feudal Ninja, while Tek is kinda plain and boring imo. Seriously lmk, feedback is a good thing. For the prize(s) - If it's ok with Daremo, I'd like split my winnings with the rest of those who entered. I can obviously make my own weapons, and I'd just like to "give" a big thanks for all those who didn't win. Excellent contest, and thanks again.

Congrats to Jin and Obishinobi.. taking second next to Jin is like winning all by it's self, so there shouldn't be any shame there, you guys both rocked out some awesome stuff, and I bow down to your ninja skills(yes, even to you Obishinobi)... To all the others, it was great seeing eveyone's style and take on various characters both known and not(at least to me that is).. and lastly, big ups to Daremo.. awesome contest and awesome prizes.. oh and GI Guppy.. the winner that never was.. sigh, still love that sweet jumping pose, lol, congrats to all!!!

Don't get me wrong on this. I like the customs that Jin did, but a CC in his suit with a different head could just as well be a Ninja in disguise. But then how good would that be for a Ninja contest? So for me, without the backstory saying this guy is a ninja, I would not have guessed it in a million years. That's my point. The custom itself is cool looking for parts and stuff, but that's it.
