"The emergence of fast, sophisticated Cobra warplanes such as the Hurricane and the Night Raven has pushed G.I.Joe to expand its own capabilities in dedicated air-to-air combat. The venerable lightweight Conquest multirole fighter is highly agile and Mach 2 capable; but the new Sky Striker is even faster, has longer range, and has been designed with air combat as its prime specialty. It typically carries six air-to-air missiles (two short range missiles, two medium range missiles, and two long range missiles) in addition to a rotary barrel cannon on the left side of the nose. It is crewed by a Pilot and a Radar and Weapons Officer. The swing wing configuration allows it to reach speeds well in excess of Mach 2, but also maneuver very well at slower speeds, in the event that things come down to close-in dogfighting."

There is just something incredibly satisfying about moving the wings forward and backward, and the whole thing is quite solid and very swooshable. My Sky Striker is shorter than my Cobra Night Raven, but with the wings extended, it has a greater wingspan. One of the luxuries of building in my style is that I don't need to replicate every last detail on the Sky Striker, as it is understood that this is my own version. This feels more like a scale model than many of my G.I.Joe builds, but it's a model that borrows from both the Sky Striker and the Tomcat (it is larger than the former and smaller than the latter). I was hoping to include several play features in the build that there wasn't space for, but some of those may be incorporated into future planes.
