So I was debating buying the Armored Panther with Thunderblast with the intention of changing out the arms (The mold lines of Res. Duke's short sleeves bother me to no end) I grabbed my vintage Thunder and started to notice just how different the two figures looked (other little things really that most people could overlook like the collar and boots) Well I decided then that I could make one closer to the vintage version without ever buying the Armored Panther.
Here's what I came up with (I'm still deciding how to make the antenna, I may go with the idea I saw another Tanker do with firefly phones on the side of the helmet) Helmet - Flash (Painted Visor) Head - Gen Hawk (Painted Hair) Arms - Gen Hawk Hands - Wild Weasel Torso - Python Officer (Painted Shirt) Vest - Resolute Duke Legs - Movie Snake Eyes V1 (Painted Boots) I decided to go with the Res. Duke Vest because it's a darker green than the Thunderblast one and matches the vintage color a little closer. The head still really looks like Hawk to me, but I plan on keeping the helmet on him anyway and with the helmet, he really looks like vintage Thunder to me. Looks good Shogi!
I always like when the Modern Era figures match their original ARAH counterparts as much as possible. You did a good job in capturing that. By the way do you plan on painting the ammo pouches on his webgear black? One thing that did bother me about Hasbro's version, (besides the arm situation that Shogi already mentioned,) is that they didn't choose to use another head. I think that Red Star's head would have looked great on this figure. The ARAH version's head looks like as if he is an older member of the Joe team. The Red Star head would have done the trick if it fit the body right that is.
