1:18 Scale Western Wagon
Up for sale beginning at 3pm PST today... It could be a chuck wagon for the trail, a supply wagon for the military, or a covered wagon for settlers. Whatever the use, this wagon sports a working tongue hinge (to raise/lower the tongue), turning front axle, and spinning wheels (using metal bearings). There is a water barrel on one side to keep your pack animals hydrated, a tool box on the opposite side to keep the wagon on the trail, and a jockey box up front for...lunch? I don't actually know what they usually kept in there. The suspension is a separate piece that the body is attached to with 4 screws. The brakes in the rear are not functional, but they give the proper appearance. The bench seat fits Joes and other 1:18 scale action figures as long as they have double-jointed knees. Some liberties have been taken with respect to the length and width of the actual body, but this is a reasonably to-scale wagon to go with the Dime Novel Legends figures by Chicken Fried Toys: Available on eBay, item number 312864125704.

Thanks!
It took a few revisions to get the mechanics right and to get the seat height and position to a good working setting but I'm very pleased with how it turned out.

It would be cost-prohibitive to print this on Shapeways, unfortunately. So I bought a 3d printer to do larger parts like this and I'll be selling them on eBay as long as it remains worthwhile to do it. It takes about three straight days to print the parts for this wagon so production runs will necessarily be pretty limited just by nature of print time.
Anyhow, I'm hoping to sell a few large, full-featured items like this to pay off the printer and start funding filament. That will allow me to start playing with ABS and flex materials which will open up possibilities (like harnesses for the horses, for example). If I can keep selling stuff to pay for what I'm doing I'll keep designing and adding new items to the catalog. I have field artillery under construction right now so if the wagon sells I'll be releasing cannons and gattling guns next. Those are being built to historically-accurate dimensions based on blueprints so I'm pretty excited to start printing those off.

Thanks! Here are some additional shots of the coffin:
I've made some minor updates since this version was printed but the basic idea is the same.

That's a very well designed piece, I'm impressed. Any plans for a covered version down the road?
