I just picked up a Zap, and ran into a bit of trouble when I went to remove his belt. From what I can tell there's no clasp (and it's also a lot thinner than most 25th/ME web gear). From what I can tell the only way to remove it is to crack the chest and slip it off that way. Can anyone confirm if this is the case, or am I just not seeing the clasp? Short-Fuze is getting mighty jealous.

Try taking the legs off, and slipping it downward, or rotating the arms up and going that way.

I imagine that you're doing this to put his gear on Short Fuze, and I for one would like to see the result when you do.

All it needs is some black paint... and glue. Heated the harness up to remove it, was retarded and didn't heat it up to get it on SF (whose arms don't go straight up like Zap's). It's amazing how a simple gear switch turns a crappy figure into a decent one. Now all I need is for my 7-packs to come in (and for me to paint a Grand Slam head I picked up months ago from the helpful gentleman above) and the o13 gang will be complete! |

Instead of heating it up, yu could have boiled the kettle, take the legs off and dip Zap in a cup of boiling hot water, 5 seconds and the belt and harness would be soft enough to remove.

And after a bit of painting: Believe it or not I'm satisfied with the use of the Doc head... it's close enough in my eyes. You can't really see in the pic above because of the flash, but I painted the lenses a light blue and the frames medium silver, then gloss coated the lenses. The hair is still ass but he'll always be wearing his helmet on my shelf, so I'm not gonna worry about it. Random complaint: the back of the belt has a canteen molded on. It looks great. But if you try to attach the backpack (which is dead-on for the original Zap and SF figs), it gets in the way. You either get a hunchback figure, or the pack doesn't go on all the way. And while I was writing this it just hit me... should I add the red neckline a la the comics? |
