Well with the extra time on my hands because of the Hurricane I went to Walmart and found a military vehicle playset for $5. I’ve never custom painted a vehicle before but I figured, why not, ha.
I didn’t really have a plan but just messed around with some spray paint, acrylics, and dry brushing to see what might happen. After I finished, I had the thought this could make a decent Desert Fox to add with Skidmark and may pick up another one and try it. I took some pictures with some figures for size comparison and they appear to work decent with this. Please give me some tips on what you would recommend for painting this or any vehicle better. The first picture is before paint. It’s difficult to see but it was gray before I put the base coat down.

Very cool! Yeah, these sets are great for raw material.

what kinda painting tips are you looking for? did you have some troubles with anything?
scuff, wash, prime, paint is about it. using different types of paints helps with getting the layers to stick and not wash into each other. like if you put down some acrylic then put acrylic details on top of it then new paint might get into the paint under it because its the same type of paint. now if you lay down some lacquer the go back with a acrylic on top of it there is big chance the two paints will not mix. |
