Glad you like Flint. I thought he wouldn't get much notice since he's so stripped down. That was done intentionally. "Combat Casual" for lack of a better term. Trademark shotgun and shells gone =blasphemy?
And I do have a custom Rengades Flint--same formula, different colors, no chest strap thingy. Jason |

So, as a huge fan of your work, I wanted to give some quick comments of each figure:
Flint - My favorite of the bunch. As mentioned, I love the black, ribbed shirt. It has that Renegades Flint to it. Also, love the custom harness, although I'd suggest a working holster. Tunnel Rat - Your build captures the essence of this character. I'm not sure what head sculpt that is, but it looks great. Also, I like that his rifle has a flashlight on it. Seems more practical than that heavy backpack with two flashlights. Falcon - Now, here is a very interesting concept. I don't know that I've ever seen a Falcon custom without his beret. For me, it certainly changes the character up. With the mic, I'm getting more of a communications officer vibe. Beachhead - Looks like you've added some green to the upper body to make the POC more ARAH/25th looking. That gun is very intimidating! Shipwreck - Can't wait to see more of this one, especially that harness. Ole Shippy looks totally BA. Lady Jaye - LJ is my favorite Joe-feme. I'm not sure if that head sculpt is a straight paint of a custom resin sculpt or if you did some other modifications. Because of the difficulty in painting those eyes under the bill, I did a "face-transplant" on that resin case using a Princess Leia head sculpt. So really interested in seeing what you did there. Duke - Probably my least favorite of the bunch simply because I associate that body with Hawk, but you can definitely tell it's Duke by the head sculpt. Roadblock - OMG! This is should be the 50th version of RB. Stellar work here. Scarlett - the goggles totally make her look steam-punk and a perfect companion for Snake Eyes. I like that you included a sniper rifle. I've got so many customs I need to photograph and upload, and you would see that we are on the same page on a lot of these characters. Snake Eyes - along with Scarlett, I really like the details you bring out with the dusting-light brush paint job. Stalker - Like Falcon, I'm on the fence with this one because I've always associated the character with wearing a beret. But again, I like how you bring out the details with the dry brushing. Gung-Ho - The 8-point USMC cover and handlebar mustache really alter that head sculpt. Nice details on the armor. Hawk - That body and paint scheme is one of my favorites. I also like that you changed out the lower arms. But the crowning jewel (all puns intended) is that head sculpt. Not sure what head that is, but I love the grey hair. Hawk looks like a war-hardened BA. He's got that stair like Sam Elliot as the Sgt. Major in "We Were Soldiers." He looks like the commander you don't ever look in the eyes! I love the T13 as a whole. Most of these would be in my Dream Team-13, and all are definitely in my top 20 favorite Joe characters. Now you just need to post more individual pictures!! Jason |

Impressive work! What head are you using for Tunnel Rat?

Jason One thing I'll mention now: this group had its origins way back in 1991-1992. I was out of actual Joe collecting by then (comics and toys), but was drawing comic book style a lot. At some point, I started sketching out a lot of GI Joe, and starting imaging a new condensed retake of the team. It became a 9-person main cast (no Duke, Gungho, Roadblock, Shipwreck), and was a stealthy special ops groups with command support. In drawing the headshots of the group, I felt there were just too many berets in such a small set, and needed//wanted each character to have a more distinct and varied head look--with headgear playing a large part of that look. As we review each figure separately, we'll go over that in more specific detail for the final looks. Last thing Jason: Who's in your T13, if you had to boil down to just 13? |

This is great feedback Jason.

Mine would be limited due to my primary interest in '82 to '87 characters; but my list would look like this: 1. Duke (Field Commander) 2. Flint (Squad Leader & Helicopter Pilot) 3. Torpedo (SEAL) 4. Stalker (First Sergeant & Field Medic) 5. Snake Eyes (Commando) 6. Scarlett (Intelligence & Marksman) 7. Gung-Ho (Grenadier) 8. Zap (Anti-Tank/Armor) 9. Lady Jaye (Covert Ops) 10. Clutch (Combat Vehicle Driver) 11. Tunnel Rat (EOD) 12. Ripcord (Combat Controller - in my Joeverse he's USAF) 13. Roadblock (Heavy Machine Gunner) I will readily admit that Lady Jaye is only on my top 13 because I like her as a character. In reality, a character like Spirit, Outback, Ambush, or Sneak Peek (as a tracker or recon) probably makes better sense though. Really looking forward t seeing more of these. Jason |

I like that T squad you got. I'd figure I'd be matching 9 to 10 of yours (or anybody's). Lady Jaye's got historic cred and versatile MO for T13 over those other alts you listed--no explanation needed there. Back in the day before Devil's Due updated Shipwreck, Torpedo was my resident SEAL recruit. But to this day, here's still too much of a cypher--I can't get a read on him and his personality. Also, I find it interesting (and applaud) that you went Zap over Bazooka. As with Torpedo over Shipwreck (or even WetSuit), usually I'd go with 82-84 over 85-87, but Bazooka seems more fun to play with. Writing or dio-writing I mean, of course... I'm not a poll starter myself, but is someone interested in starting up a head-to-head poll: Older character/figure vs newer--who's the real deal? Stalker vs Beachhead, Zap vs Bazooka, GungHo vs Leatherneck, Scarlett vs Lady Jaye, etc. Today would have been a good day for photographing, but good weather, Target/Walmart Exclusive figure hunting, and catching up on sleep got in the way. And tomorrow's a bit of a work catchup day. New pics and writeups may be delayed a bit. The thumbnail shot will be updated when the next batch is up. Thanks to all. |

Custom cast from Angel Forge? Definitely inspired by Cloud Strife V3 http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...ife-again.html
I think I'm allowed to link to the store, if it's not my own store: https://shop.theangelforge.com/Male-...36-MH00536.htm Quote:
Thanks! So know I need to know your T13! Who's in, who's out? Who do you think is your controversial/borderlin pick? I think mine is Falcon, at least in the sense of look I went with.

Although, I do think that Bazooka is one of the best modern renditions of an ARAH figure, even despite the lack of double-knee articulation. Jason |

G.I. Joe T13:
Overview: Briefly, the T13 group is my conceptual reimagining//modernization//followup// to the O13—my choices for the first 13 figures in any new line--as well as a retrospective review of the most popular and iconic characters (mixed in with my own personal favorites) I wouldn’t call these my definitive takes on the characters, but closest to the ever-evolving conceptual versions in my head currently, kitbashed from parts I like. Lineup: Back: Flint, Tunnel Rat, Falcon, Beachhead, Shipwreck, LadyJaye Front: Duke, Roadblock, Scarlett, SnakeEyes, Stalker, Gung-Ho, Hawk Latest Group pic (2018-0923): GiJoe_T13-13set_2018-0923db by J Perez, on Flickr Original pic of preview pic: GiJoe_T13-13set_2018-0807ac by J Perez, on Flickr GiJoe_T13-13set_2018-0810ab by J Perez, on Flickr I'm just finishing up my sight, by dint of admire the your masterpieces! Before getting into individual figures, we’ll start with the subgroups. Thirteen figures/characters is a large group/cast to juggle around. The ideal cast would probably be around 6 to 8. So when I decided on my magic T13, my mind wanted to break that group into subgroups, to help define roles, characters, interactions, back stories, and attitudes.
The subgroups to be shown are only for initial framework of the T13 group—to help define how the group came together and inform how different characters will work together and interact as they come together as one big squad. The fun in my mind all the different combos of these characters on a variety of adventures//missions. Also note that these are just ideas in my head cannon. Lots of gaps and holes purposely left open and undetailed, for the final storyteller to embellish and develop organically. We start out with these guys, since I only had time for pics of one subgroup last weekend, and I really wanted to try this shot inspired a bit by the cover of GI Joe Yearbook #2. I) [CLASSIFIED] GiJoe_T13-03set2_2018-0930ab by J Perez, on Flickr Stalker, Snake Eyes, and Scarlett are the survivors of a previous highly trained special missions force. Details of that team’s last mission are highly classified--unknown to the rest of the operators at onset of this team, but known by team command (TOC), who have given them a second chance. What will be obvious is there are deep scars with these three, but a deeper bond and sense of loyalty to each other and to fellow field teammates. What will also be obvious is that these three are remarkably skilled, fast, surgical, and deadly. GiJoe_T13-03set2_2018-0930bb by J Perez, on Flickr Behind the Scenes: These 3 are heavily influenced by my ideas and sketches late high school//early college, in terms of look, color, and armor (thanks Jim Lee). They were always my favorites thanks to Mr. Hama, but in my head cannon fiction, they would not be so central to the stories told. The all-black for the trio is a bit of a change from the classic looks. To justify the change, there is a story which deals with the aftermath of the last team’s last mission. Later down the line, I may try to play with adding the more familiar tan and green to Scarlett and Stalker, respectively. Finally, age-wise I see this sub-group in in their prime similar to that eternal age DC keeps Superman and Batman in. More of this age thing will be apparent in subsequent subgroups...
