9/1/2011 AND 1/28/2012 EDITS: ADDITIONAL CUSTOM TOUCH ON PAGE 3 AND NEW PIC ON PAGE 4.
I'm gonna give the info about this custom in a "question-and-answer" style. So, bear with my stupid and silly self. 1. Of all the characters out there, why in the world would you make a custom of Ghostrider? Long story: When the announcement came out that a new Skystriker was gonna be released, I got inspired to bust my old Phantom X-19 outta mothballs (read: take it out from my parents' house). But if I was gonna have the X-19 hanging out with the Skystriker and Ace, I felt like I had to include an updated ME-style Ghostrider. Hence, the inspiration for this custom. 2. Geez, that helmet looks kinda huge. Believe me I tried to just hollow out the original figure's head and use that as the helmet. The problem was that the hollowed out helmet wouldn't fit over the head I chose for Ghostrider. I even tried a Grunt/Flash head, but the plastic on those ARAH heads/helmets has no give or bend. No matter the head I chose, that hollowed out helmet was gonna be a super-tight fit. On the plus side though, the helmet I did come up with allowed me to vary up Ghostrider's look a bit: 3. Does he fit in the Phantom X-19? Oh yeah! 4. Why did you "mirror image" his holster and map from the original figure? I never understood why the original Ghostrider had his holster (and his gun too!) in such a weird reverse positioning. Assuming he's right-handed, it never made sense to me to that he'd have to cross his entire body just to grab his gun. Just seemed more efficient if the holster was on his right side. Passing the proverbial torch (or red scarf) to the new kid. 5. Enough of this rambling already. What's the recipe for the custom? Going from feet to head:

I like it... I thought the helmet was way too big at first but for whatever reason, that face shield makes it work. I want a Phantom X-19.

The oxygen mask definitely made the helmet right.

Looks good, but I'd agree that helmet does look a bit big due to the gubbins stuck on the side. What about a basic Ace/Wild Bill helmet or trim down those side thingies?
Good work |

The X-19 was my favorite plane when I was a kid and Ghostrider was my favourite pilot. You have done a GREAT JOB!!! Too bad my plane was given away by my mum, if not I would have stolen... borrowed your recipe.

I hope Hasbro will re release the Phantom X-19 for the 30th anniversary. It looks even better than the real stealth fighter or bomber.
