Tombstone is a wonderful character, in some ways reminiscent of the '84 Cobra line up.
This is my take, in NS format, plus a MU Drax head. The Destro arms are a bit massive, but the shoulder pads work too well for the character to pass up. Last edited by Clockwise; 06-17-2018 at 07:38 AM.. |

Very interesting. Rather novel to mod into the NS era. Is that a common type of mod for you?

Thanks, guys!
Yes, I work in NS a lot. I find a lot of fun in working with junk parts, even if the finished product doesn't look as good as it could if I were using Marauder or another premium format. This custom wasn't too bad, but many NS customs require raising the chest/back, building a spine below it, and then building around it. Or replacing tiny hands/feet. It's extra work, but oddly rewarding. I rotate between ARAH, NS, 25A+, and Star Wars. Whatever works, lots of mixed format figures, too. I'll even use Adventure People if needed. It's not uncommon for my customs to have limited articulation, too. Last edited by Clockwise; 03-16-2018 at 10:12 PM.. Reason: correction |

That's got to be what hurt the NS era!! The inconsistency!! Gorilla arms, tiny hands or ginormous hands, so sad. For every solid character there were 5 or 6 outta scale ones.
How do construct the spines for your NS customs? |

Here's a WIP of a Baroness custom I did so you can see what I'm talking about.
The first step is to figure out how much to raise the chest/back over the top of the waist. Once I know that length, I cut a pen body to run from the bottom of the chest/back to the top of the waist. The proportions are usually right when the top of row of knuckles on the hand lines up with the bottom of the crotch. Instead of running an o-ring through it, I run a loop of wire connected to the t-bar. I twist the bottom of the figure to wind up the wire. This locks the upper half, the pen tube extension, and the waist/legs in place. I also run a bead of superglue down the wire so that the twisting doesn't un-twist. I use wire so because I won't be able to replace an o-ring that would eventually dry rot. The epoxy is then sculpted around the pen tube until it contours as needed. It's extra work, but worth it to see Hasbro's product as someone had probably intended it to be. Last edited by Clockwise; 06-17-2018 at 07:38 AM.. |
