Did you glue the vest to the torso? It looks like such a tight, perfect fit that it actually looks molded onto the torso! Great work.
BTW, I'm currently ripping off some of you ideas! LOL!! I'm updating some of my Cobra figures, like making an Air-Viper, Flak-Viper (anti-Grand Slam), etc. all in the "blue shirt" style uniforms (but not necessarily in blue - the Air-Viper for example is actually the maroon/burgundy Cobra Invasion trooper). Sure wish I'd have picked up even more DG Cobras when they were readily available. I think I have 3 or 4 blues, and just aren't willing to customize them. Jason |

Jason: the vest wasn't glued on, but I had to shaved down the torso's back lats for it to fit. I usually shave those lats on almost all 30th figures (especially Cobra Shock Trooper torso). Helps to keeps the arms closer to the torso when the arms are rotated back.
I'm enjoying your takes on Cobra--the figures, the renaming, the organization so far. I love your feedback on my own takes, hearing your future plans, then seeing them here and at your blog--so rip away. I only request that you get Flak-Viper (Flak-Viper 1.0? Proto-Flak Viper) up as soon as possible--because Grand Slam is my O1 (original first), and since I've got Scrap-Iron on my mind this week (I wanna see if your Flak-Viper makes me wanna tweak my anti-tank//artillery ideas). |

Last additonal pics of Scrap Iron, from Sunday. Apologies for the delay between pics--other crimson/blue of the alma mater took precedence.
SI with my Joeverse 1983-1984 Cobra Gunners (for the ASP and/or Hiss Turret). I guess early on, Scrap Iron leads artillery, Bludd leaves infantry? My Cobra Hierarchy is pretty fast and loose, but SI should fit with these guys, but also stand apart... gCobra_25th_84-ScrapIron_2018-0325a by J Perez, on Flickr SI with body buddy Firefly, reshoot of a past photo. Staring at that old photo for so long convinced me to go darker blue (that, and RV88's killer take http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...iron-rv88.html). gCobra_25th_84-2p1_2018-0325b by J Perez, on Flickr and finally, SI with the 4 from 84, for the archives. I would have to say these 4 were my favorites during my 80s collecting as a kid--excluding M.Bludd. I really wish Bludd and Zartan could have gotten that true ultimate classic 30/50th rebuild like SS and FF got (with actual new re-updated parts). gCobra_25th_84-4p1_2018-0325a by J Perez, on Flickr |

My idea for the Flak-Viper is really quite simple. It kind of stems off the discussion on the "What Secrets Luke in the Filecards?" thread where they were discussing whether the HAL and FLAK are "indirect artillery" or "anti-aircraft" (turns out the FLAK is really both, and I have a hard time believing the HAL which shoots lasers is an "indirect" anything). With my love of Cobra "blue shirts," I've got some Shocktroopers that are not being utilized. I love the body design, but not the head sculpt and helmet combo. So, I'm going to use the face mask helmet from the Air (Jet Pack) Trooper with the Shocktooper body. It'll be an easy custom with very little painting, and just a blend of accessories. Jason |

I'm not sure what you mean by "shaved down the torso's back lats for it to fit." Do you have a picture, or can you go further into detail?

Felt like it was time to update the 1984 Cobra Group shot, with all of the changes made in the last year or so:
gCobra_25th_84-01_2019-0320ab by HissHissFangFang, on Flickr Notes: Mar 2019: Updated Wild Weasel with new head cast, new lower arms, additional chest pockets. Rattler Pilot got new goggles and a slight repaint with Testors Gun Metal mellowed out with Vallejo Satin Varnish. Feb 2019: Cobra Desert & Jungle Troopers and Stinger Drivers had slight tweaks to allow for Desert & Jungle Officers (http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...-shelf-11.html). Desert Trooper webgear switched from Officer webgear to the one used by the Concept Case Stinger Driver update. Mar 2018: Repainted 30th build Scrap-Iron to darker hues (http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...angfang-3.html); added silver logo decals to Moccasin Driver and Stinger Drivers Feb 2018: Modified Zartan with different torso, and repainted http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...a-shelf-4.html)

Amazing stuff as usual. Your customs are always an inspiration, and I’m definitely stealing a few of these ideas when I finish up my Joe team and start filling out my Cobra ranks.
