So I grabbed this particular True Heroes chopper a while ago and finally got around to repainting and re-stickering it over the weekend.
Before we begin - I know it's a lighter blue than "usual" for Cobra (Rattler, ASP, etc.) That's just my preference, especially since I like that this blends a bit better with CC. And the paint's darker in real life without me fiddling with my phone's flash and the lighting in the room to get decent pictures. I actually like this a lot as a vehicle in and of itself - the original black / grey camo wasn't too bad, to be honest with you, and the one currently on the TRU US website (True Heroes Sentry Outpost Playset - Helicopter - Toys R Us - Toys "R" Us) is pretty good as well. Downside, as usual, is that the cabin isn't detailed at all besides the seats. Same deal as, say, the C130. It's just a simple repaint - the chopper comes apart quite easily (a small mechanical screwdriver is all I used), and all I really spray-painted was the body. Oh, and the cabin half-door. The main play feature aside from the rotors is a pop-out machine gun station. Neat enough, and it makes it a nice complement to the Tomahawk in that regard. And the whole machine gun assembly is pretty easy to pop out - you just have to loosen the lower left screw and crack the case open by a couple of cms to slide it out of its rail. That gives you an almost purely transport chopper, which as many others have observed is what Cobra's traditionally been missing. And unlike some TH vehicles, the opposite side doesn't look terrible! Likely because the entrance to the cockpit is over here. There's a nice engine cover that I had to unscrew (the black bit) that provides some contrast. I didn't include it yet because I don't have an idea for it, but the set comes with an outboard (kinda like a smaller Night Landing boat, not a Zodiac or anything) that can actually hook to the good on the tail section reasonably well. Anyway, a worthwhile project if you've got the stickers lying around (which I did - although before anyone asks, I'd used all my Cobra Air Force spares so I had to use the Retaliation CC's version near the cockpit). I might add a couple more missiles to the skids, because as usual with TH choppers the chin gun's pretty wimpy. Last edited by GeoffDes; 10-17-2016 at 12:29 PM.. |

I like the blue, it looks great. You should try Tamiya Smoke spray and do the orange glass. Although the orange looks pretty good too.
