Hey ‘Tankers,
Here’s one that been sitting on my custom to-do list for three years. The reason is that I just couldn’t figure out what to do with Quick Kick. I never liked his 1985 appearance – the no shirt, no shoes look just didn’t sit well with me even as a kid. Fast forward to ME and we got a faithful release of QK, but again, I just couldn’t get behind it for the same reasons. Then we had PoC, and it just seemed like a QK head on a Bruce Lee inspired fig. Quick Kick deserved to be his own character (even though he is GI Joe’s Karate Kid). Researching customs, I found that there weren’t too many of them out there. There were some really good updates, but QK still seems like a poor man’s Snake Eyes (or reminded too much of a Vietnam-era Tommy Arashikage). It finally hit me – combine the modernization with the aesthetics of the original! So, I kit-bashed a figure (complete with shirt and boots) and painted up a vest for him. I’m really pleased with how he turned out and proud to display him with the rest of his updated Class of ’85 alumni. Last edited by Ako Roshi; 09-18-2016 at 03:41 PM.. |

I like your take on him. Although I don't have any issues with the shirtless and shoeless look it is a bit impractical even for Joe. Especially since the 1st encounter they had with him took place in the arctic.

Brilliant move on matching colors while making it practical. Instantly recognizable as QK

Excellent take on Quick Kick, looks better than the POC version.

Good idea, definitely better than the ME versions by Hasbro.
