My very first diorama is finally complete. This was the result of countless trial & errors, experimentation & just dumb luck. I acquired a junk Rolling Thunder through a friend. After determining that it was beyond restoration, I decided instead of throwing it away I was going to re-purpose it. I came up with the idea when I took a pic of a broken/ junk tiger rat that I snapped a quick pic of it sitting in a marsh.
So I decided to up the ante so to speak. I wanted a realistic looking diorama with a vehicle with the centerpiece. I used insulation foam as the base "mud" & the rocks. I used Krylon Texture paint which helped met the foam and create a mud looking surface as well as hardening the foam. I used a combination of rust powders & ink washes to simulate a weathered look. I also used lichen, & foliage from Hobby Lobby to add bushes and turf. Spanish moss was used for the vines. I used various animals from the 50th 2 packs.

First off, that is pretty epic, bro! I really like the thinking outside the box with the irreparable Rolling Thunder...
Next, I think it might add to it (not that it needs it) to have maybe some dismembered BAT body parts or small Cobra vehicle parts (if you have any of those items that are in the scrap pile) strewn about as well, to make it seem as though Cobra took some damage while taking the RT out... I just thought that might give your dio a bit of a push over the top. Regardless, this is a great display! -Todd Shakka85
