Maybe I missed a link or two somewhere, but does anyone here know a site that makes custom animals for 3 3/4 figures? Dogs, wolves, birds...whatever. I figure we already have trigate and maurader for joe/cobra bodies and weapons...but the animals are all re-paints of previously released figs.

Scale will not always be consistent but look for Schleich.
Try Target, Michael's, & sometimes Walmart carries good animals. The warthog in this picture came from Michael's. The cat was either Michael's or Target.

Schleich toys are great. Target and Toys'R'Us carry the animals the most. Walmarts kind of sporadic as to when they carry them and crafts stores are spotty as to which Schleich line they get. The only thing I don't like about Schleich is the price. Your paying $5.99 for unarticulated resin statues, they are beautifully painted and lead free though so they are probably worth it.
Animal Planet has a few animal lines as well. You can find them at at Toys 'R' Us. If you want a 3 3/4" lion head to a Fred's Dollar store and buy one of the Narnia Aslan figures. You can get it in a pack with Lucy and the table they killed him on (anyone else weirded out by that, "Hey kids now you too can kill Aslan" "Aslan now with dieing action"). Anyway its a fully articulated lion in perfect 3 3/4" scale. The Indiana Jones line had an articulated horse and the Power Team Elite line has an articulated horse and camel as well. True Dollar stores like Dollar Tree carry animals as well that are around Joe size. |

Basically what they said: Schleich at TRU and Target (and they have a website also with stuff you don't find in stores). They're not perfectly in scale with Joes but some are very serviceable.
Targets here have this awesome realistic life-size rattlesnake toy and I would love for that company to make a cobra one to use as cobra decor for my stuff. Michael's also has some Schleich-like animals. That's the craft store. I've toyed with the idea of getting some Schleich Great White Sharks and putting COBRA sticker "tattoos" on them and using an extra Firefly walkie-talkie as a remote control in an Eel's hand. Here's a link to a Schleich inventory. I don't know how much these are or their availability. Click on "table of contents." http://schleich.animobil.info/ Damn, I started going through this. This seems like exactly what you're looking for. Last edited by Barefoot Jedi; 05-10-2009 at 12:15 AM.. |
