D'oh!
I've been thinking on doing one since Samantha posted their custom snakes. Edit: This guy may be useful. http://www.hasbro.com/objects/produc...an%20Mark%2001 and/or this one: http://www.hasbro.com/objects/produc...an%20Mark%2002 Last edited by M_renegade; 04-29-2009 at 02:09 AM.. |

Like this:
Left-hand side is existing joints, right side is proposed. Obviously, the head and wrists will stay movable. Last edited by Mandingo Rex; 04-29-2009 at 12:11 PM.. |

Iron Man: Iron Man Mark 01 and/or this one: Iron Man: Iron Man Mark 02 I think for the upper arms, at the elbows, I can use the all-black Cobra Commander arms from the Legions set... Actually, the elbows don't bug me too much, if I can get the shoulders to pivot on a ball joint, I may leave the elbows alone. I'm not sure exactly how the existing shoulders peg in, but I'm thinking splitting the suit may be a bit more difficult than a regular Joe, which I can't even handle as it is. Not sure what you can use...but if you can pull it off...more power to you.
I am one of those who was disappointed in the lack of articulation of the original figure...so I would love to see this done!

I wish you luck. I've been trying to figure out a way to do it since I got the figure. I think you'd pretty much have to chop the figure up, resculpt all the parts to stand on their own, then combine them with new joints. As it is right now the legs are so integrated into the chest piece I can't see anyway to do it without building a whole new area for legs to attach to.

I hate to be the bad guy here, and I wish you luck with your project...
But I just have to say... Deep Six is a piece of crap figure that I hated since the first day my cousin came over with him and that SHARC. He is now and has always been a cheap bath toy GI Joe Knockoff. Deep Six was deep sixed from my GI JOE- verse long ago and has no place at all in my collection. He is, in a simple turn of phrase, an INACTION FIGURE. But good luck on your project. If you can pull it off I'll be very impressed. Send it to me and I'll throw him in the Tigris River for you |

Here's my articulated Deep Six:
Just kidding I wish I could make his suit articulated. If I had a second Deep Six and some time, i would make it a removable suit. What I'd have to do is a lot of hollowing out andt he suit would fit similar to how the Snake Armor fits, so his legs would be separated into thigh pieces and calf pieces and just some soft material for joints. However, I think his legs would be spread all the time. Also, I haven't figured out how to do the arms yet. The other thing I tried as a kid was to see if I can just split the suit in half and stick him in there, but it's a lot more work. The vintage one had weights in his feet and was a pain in the butt to open, but he is hollow though. Good luck with your project though.

Hey MR, if you can wait a day, i can make a quick sketch on how to add articulations at least in the arms.
I've succesfully used this system: i've cutted an old robocop leg (no articulation whatsoever) and added the knee joint to use it on a BAT. Also, i've added a Joe hip articulation on a SW figure, but you might need a bit of green stuff or something similar, and an old vintage Joe (in fact, if you can get some vintage Corps, the better, they're cheaper ;) ) to make it work on ol' Deep six. Pity i live so far...this is the kind of project i love to do |

Pity i live so far...this is the kind of project i love to do I did spend about 15 minutes tonight trying to figure out how to split the sucker open. His arms are rubberier plastic, and I think I'm going to use the Legions CC arm/elbow joints to make his arms move at the elbow, but the shoulder joint I'm still debating. I gave up trying to crack it with conventional methods, and attempted to use an X-Acto to split the sides, but I value my fingers too much, so I abandoned that quickly. What I did do, was drop him in a fast food cup, filled with water, and stuck him in the freezer. I'm hoping by tomorrow he's frozen solid and the ice may force the plastic apart some, since he's hollow. If not, it's an interesting experiment to see how to crack him. He's got quite a bit of glue, and no visible seems to easily pry. Why they can't use screws in places is beyond me. |
