Hi guys!
So...let me introduce you my new custom. A totally scratchbuilded M939-like shoebox/cardboard truck for G.I.Joe figures. I know it might looks crappy a bit. But I'm really happy with it. Happy, cause I used only things, wich mostly you can find in your trash bins. Really - box wires, cardboard from shoe box, figures box, drinking straws, toothpicks (smaller and bigger ones), paper clips, even a used printer cardridge, plastic tubes from a table flag holder, plastic detail tube from the parts holder for a 1/72 model and so on. Every mechanism - selfmade. Every hindge - selfmade. I know that there are mini-hinges and styrene..but when I founded out where I can buy them - the truck was 50% ready...and I specially leaved everything as is. I really want to build up a truck of materials you everybody have in your house. So I show you how the magic happens step by step =) I hope you will like it..and of course - thanks every one for watching! Cheers! |

So this is how it begun.
Before of the our beloved Eaglehawk release - I was inspired by the idea of the troop transport vehicle for my G.I.Joe squads. I'm not so deep in love with water transport (well, the USS Flagg I will definetly love - trust me)))...So I decided it'll be a land vehicle. The M939 always was my love, and I never understand why no one ever did it. Sure there was some GMC and Dodge trucks from WWII by 21st Century toys and thats it. So I took an advantage and tried to build one by myself. Lets see how it was done: First of all - the wheels!!! Wheels always rock! =) DSCN1989 by HUNMARINE, on Flickr The main body - is from a Wolverine boots box...you can see it here: DSCN1991 by HUNMARINE, on Flickr Sure the main problem was the scale. I'll be honest with you - its a bit bigger than should be. It's more like a Bruder sized truck: DSCN1993 by HUNMARINE, on Flickr The canopy: DSCN1994 by HUNMARINE, on Flickr |

DSCN1995 by HUNMARINE, on Flickr Paper pre-details really helps out. You can check and overcheck..and in final - build the piece you need: DSCN1997 by HUNMARINE, on Flickr DSCN2011 by HUNMARINE, on Flickr Sure in some places I cheated. Why not? =) Inspired by the tkprime's models..especially the transformers out of paper. (he has a great facebook page) - I decided that the cardboard wiil form only the main parts...but the details will be printed. DSCN2014 by HUNMARINE, on Flickr I tried to build up all the necessary parts. And of course made it functional. Like the the engine-hood: DSCN2021 by HUNMARINE, on Flickr The stearing wheel and gearbox handles. Another big part of the truck - was its cargo-bay. It took me a lot of thnking how to do it functional. So you can use it like a cargo or a troop transport vehicle.
When I realized how to build hinges out of wires - the build gained some speed =) Here..even Flint helped me out: DSCN2896 by HUNMARINE, on Flickr DSCN2956 by HUNMARINE, on Flickr DSCN2957 by HUNMARINE, on Flickr Some test with RB =) DSCN2959 by HUNMARINE, on Flickr First time I saw a truck out of the this glued together cardboard))) DSCN2961 by HUNMARINE, on Flickr Tent holding tubes (they are removable): DSCN2963 by HUNMARINE, on Flickr Before the paint job: DSCN2965 by HUNMARINE, on Flickr |

You take some trash: DSCN3024 by HUNMARINE, on Flickr and with some creative thinking - build a truck engine out of it (Sure its not identical to the original..but it works, huh?))): DSCN3026 by HUNMARINE, on Flickr The seats wasn't stay in places when its closed...so it was neede to build something to secure them. Paper clips and some mini-paracord.(or any other thread you can use for it) DSCN3027 by HUNMARINE, on Flickr DSCN3029 by HUNMARINE, on Flickr The first paintjob: DSCN3030 by HUNMARINE, on Flickr |
