The minute I saw the new 3.75-inch Captain America I knew I had to customize him. After some thought, I decided to go with an airborne Cap. I tried just fitting the Cobra Paratrooper's gear on Cap but that didn't quite work, since Cap's legs weren't designed to fit the harness (it flopped too much).
So I popped Cap and the Paratrooper apart in order to place Cap's body on the Paratrooper's legs. That also didn't work, since Cap was now shorter than he was before. Okay. Dremel time. I cut Cap's feet off -- and the Paratrooper's feet off -- and then did a little surgery. Cap lost a little articulation, but he kept his boots, gained the pegs to attach the flippers, and gained the Paratrooper's kneepads. I also painted all of Cap's blue parts, in an attempt to get the lower leg better matched to the upper leg. Not quite perfect, but maybe a second coat will solve the problem. Notice Cap's left leg and how it slants weird. When I glued the foot on I must have got it placed at an odd angle. It's bugging me enough that I may pop it off and try to reposition it better. I guess I'm saying that I'm probably not done. But he's looking pretty good. Last edited by battlegrip; 03-29-2009 at 07:38 AM.. |

Interesting take on a Cap Custom.Tho if Cap was being deployed to a Combat Zone, wouldn`t surprise me he looked like this at all.A Nice update on the WWII Military Cap,rather than the Superhero Cap.

Thank you. I was definitely thinking of military Cap when I started putting the pieces together. He needs one of those classic shields.

Na I`d say stick with the round one as it`s an update. As this is more of a Military Cap,any thoughts on a weapon? The knife makes sense incase of having to cut the parachute straps, tho firepower if in a Military hot-zone,maybe an idea, after all (Ult) WWII Cap had the Thompson.

That twisted ankle is really starting to bother me. |

Yea that works, due to compact size, tho a M4 could be sweet in his hands too. In the end it`s your call but I like where you went with this Cap. Hope you get more comments on it,moreso as it`s original too.

Cap looks so good in the paratrooper gear it's got me wondering how he would look in arctic gear. I'm betting an Arctic Captain America would be ready to take out that Arctic Hiss tank once it arrives.

My only complaint is that Ultimate Captain America would never use a parachute.
I don't think I have seen the original Cap use one either. It's in the first pages of Ultimates vol.1 Issue 1. He looks very cool though. |

Very nice update!
So I have to ask, how easy was it to put Joe lower legs on MU upper legs? I plan on doing a similar thing for a D&D custom and wanted to know if it was possible |
