Maybe I've not been looking in the right places, but I haven't seen too many customs of Cross Country.
Maybe I have an affinity for him because he's from North Carolina like myself, or whatever. Despite being a stereotypical, redneck rebel flag-wavin' good ol' boy, I liked him as a kid. Not too many Joes from North Carolina, especially Greensboro. He's actually a spare parts "happy accident"... I just happened to see the extra parts lying around from my various other customs going on right now and while paint was drying on them, I stopped to knock out Robert "Cross Country" Blais. He's a strange mix of parts, and not that easy to come by unless you just happen to have the spare parts laying around, but here goes...
Recipe: Head: Indiana Jones German Soldier (from the 2-pack) Torso, Upper Arms, Feet: CP Shipwreck Lower Arms: CP Copperhead Hands: PP Copperhead Vest, Upper Legs, Goggles: Viper (Specifically, Glider Pilot Viper) Knees, Lower Legs: Tripwire Strap: Cartoon Ripper Last edited by Mandingo Rex; 03-27-2009 at 02:54 AM.. |

Thanks man.
It bothers the shit out of me that there are better parts available to make him more exact, but I think he turned out alright considering he was made from scraps. The only thing I had to buy was the Indy Germans, which I got for $5 at Ross on clearance. Haha. The other German's head, I cut the brim of the hat off to make a head for Low-Light (coming soon ). He needs Flint or Viper upper arms, to get the sleeves right, and it really bugs me that the vest has no big collar on it, but of the existing Hasbro molds, I figured the Vipers was about the closest. I tried Hawk's collar, but it looked like crap and didn't fit either. There's also several boots that would work better, but all in all, I'm happy with him, and he cost me barely anything extra to make, along with Low-Light, he was just made from spares. Quote:
And the painting isn't so hard, as long as you have quality paints, a good set of brushes, the right parts, and patience. Last edited by Mandingo Rex; 03-27-2009 at 03:02 AM.. |
