My sister makes miniature clothes for these creepy dolls she collects so I'm gonna drop off some figures and she said she's gonna mess around and see if she can make some "clothes" Any requests for her to see if she can make them?

I understand though. Not everyone is going to be aware of Lego canvas, or what you can do with it. It's all good. It's really a shame that Lego has this stuff made specifically for them, and not some ready-made off the shelf material. It works so well for a lot of apps at a smaller scale. Weapon slings for instance, look much better when they actually look more like a scaled nylon/fabric strap. I know some people use rexlace or whatever, but it still looks like plastic, and too thick for the real thing - at that scale. If that's ok with you, then go for it. However, my canvas straps/slings speak for themselves and clearly shows what can be done with it. In the end though, it's always a matter of personal preference. |

I even started lurking on Lego custom boards to see if anyone's found something closer but they just get the thicker canvas at JoAnns. I have lightweight unprimed canvas and it's still not anywhere near micro canvas. The scale looks off and at an unprimed state it will fuzz and fray.
I've been looking for items where I work that may use that same material since most of it is decorative items made in China, but no luck. |

I've been tinkering with some knight customs though, and I think that the flex rex will come in good use with them simply for use as leather strapping (for things like horse reigns, etc). Otherwise, it's pretty much phased out. |

Take your pick! It really depends on what YOU want, or how much you need. Since this stuff comes in the form of boat sails, you'll need to get what will work best for you. Personally, I buy the largest piece they make, which happens to be in that light tanish color -

I remember it was hard enough to find scale fabrics for 1/6 scale customs. It always has a tendency to look "puffy" when on the figure, unless you cut corners and do a lot of "faking." I imagine it's even harder for 1/18 scale. I remember I used t troll the garment district in LA looking for something that was small enough to pass for 1/6 scale. Kind of like treasure hunting...

Is interesting how much the same materials can differ from country... The primed canvas we get here is really thin/though. You can bend it as much as you want, pull as harder as you can, and will resist. And is so thin that in fact, i don't like it much for belts, unless i use a double strip, or really small details. Is great for vests or working pouches. Also, from what i see, it has better...finishing? I mean, you don't see any rough border were you cut (the case of that wonderful gear that Obi did on SE), it always keep even and sharp. Seems to have a better surface too. I guess the quality of primed canvas differ depending on the manufacturer (for example, those on the links i've posted are spanish canvas, which look very loose, while the one i have is really thigh and compact on the frame -i'm argentinian-) A pity that shiping is so expensive and takes so much time... |
