I wanted to experiement with modding a "Fred" head, coincidentally, so the hair looked different.
Oops. 1) with hair that has deep ridges, I should have used paint: marker won't make it. 2) worse, filing down hair so the haircut looks different is even harder. Oops II. Suggestions? Thanks in advance. Storymodeller

Use another head from a different line that could work?
Depends on how far gone it is. Or you could just leave the helmet on Otherwise you would likely need to add some modeling sculpt stuff of your choice to fix it. A cheap method could be to use hot glue and paint over it, but it may end up just looking absurd. The Stat Wars or Indy line is good for replacement heads. |

Never used sculpt clay or or glue, but like the suggestion because my goal is to find a use for that head, make it useable....
Thanks Mandingo Rex! --Storymodeller

I'm sure other people can offer better solutions, but if you can't salvage it, just leave the CG helmet on.

you can widdle the hair down with an exacto and then get some fine grit sandpaper and sand it bald, might take a while, but it'll work, you can also get some "wet" sandpaper and it'll get it looking pretty shiney.. but like I said, it'll take a lot of work.
Here's an Obi-wan head that used to have a mullet, It took a lot of work, but I like how it turned out. |

Hair can be resculpted fairly easily. I'd suggest a two part self hardening compound like Fixit Sculpt, Apoxie Sculpt, or Green Stuff. I used a sclpting tool, with a sort of leaf shaped end on it, to shape the lines. Hair doesn't need to be uniform, and goes in a general direction, but not in very straight lines. A dull X-acto blade should also work, in place of a sculpting tool.

yeah, sculpting on new hair isn't that hard either, it takes a little practice, but it's funny how it can change a head...

winter self custom, lol another Rollbar I think? You can also just cut the head off and add a hat or do-rag... Ripper's head with Heavy Duty's do-rag. Anyway, hope that gives you some ideas... I sure I have more but I don't wanna clog the thread, lol |
