The original was all solid, drab gray, so I wanted to spruce it up a bit. I covered most of the base with a mixture of white glue/sand/water and then sprinkled more sand on top while it was wet. After it dried, I did a base coat of tan, a wash of dark brown, and then a drybrush of sand color on top of that. The surrounding wood and the arch were painted in a dark brown and then given a darker brown wash, then a light drybrush with a slightly lighter brown. Overall I'm pretty pleased with the outcome. It will be up on ebay this weekend if anyone's interested

It really is weird how much we think alike...
I bought that set just for the base, about 1+ months ago. You did a nice job on the sand floor. Me likes it! |
