Let's admit our mistakes, you know the ones that really make us upset. You just got that new joe in the mail and are about to customize it and something goes terribly wrong.
Fellow tankers my name is Eric and tonight I dremeled the hell out of Wraith's feet in an attempt to make them look more ninja like. My skills with a dremel have paid off great so far. It was in my attempt to make the toes look like the VvV Night creeper toes that I got sloppy and wrecked the piece. I am upset because I am trying to keep my spending down on joes as I am sure most of you are. On another note, Six months ago I tried RIT dying a few pieces and over boiled the legs on my sand viper. They now have horrible welts and are badly warped. So let it out Tankers. Stop living with the guilt... Share your grief, we are here for you.

Last year I RIT dyed 4 Storm Shadows at the same time and everyone of their torsos warped to the point where I cannot put them back together. Four Storm Shadows trashed.

Yeah I try to turn my mishaps around to new opportunities when I can. Shrunk some cobra trooper thigh trying to dye them with RIT. Sanded them down on the inside so they'd assemble properly & used them anyway. If I ever want to go back & give my 'dwarf' torso Dreadnok with better proportioned legs, now I know one way to go about it.

There can be only 1 Eric Smith!
DOPPELGANGER! lol, J/k It feels good to read these. To know we all have bungled something in some simple way. If we had just slowed down and paid more attention we would have aced what we were trying to accomplish. I didn't know I had thrown in FF's head in with the other parts I was RIT dying. Oh boy what fun it was to re-do the eyes... oh joy

RIT dying funny I've never heard of this technique , but I would assume it has something to do with boiling this dye into the parts to make them that color as opposed to paint as I'm guessing it's much less susceptible to wear. This would mean that you'd have to boil it for a certain amount of time and no more that that. or it would warp, shrink, of welt so it's higher risk than painting as well.
This would mean it's not uncommon to ruin your work so considering that it's a high failure rate. You did fine. |
