Today,
I was on a mission to crack open my first figures torso. I don't have a vice so that method is out..:( I have a set of exacto Knifes n started cutting away.....After the first body was toast I smashed it with a hammer to salvage the arms at least.... Well I junked 3 figures before getting the hang of it B.A.T. B.A.T. Viper.....(hammered) but the best part of all is that I have......Hmmm Idk 13 UBP destros and another 4-5 UBP stalker and Steeler and CC that I could have used to test this out on first...Just thinking about it makes me laugh.....Not really that bad... (more of a an instance of Not thinking something threw before doing it). |

i totally though i fugged up my custom today, but i ended up stripping all the paint, repainted him in his v2 colors and it looks better than i thought it ever could...im so hyped it looks fantastic i just finished it a couple minutes ago
i have found that if you heat up the torso first either with a blow dryer or boil water it works a lot easier with a razor. the more you crack the better, but i learned the hard way that heat is your friend Last edited by skatezaz; 02-10-2009 at 03:47 AM.. |

I haven't toasted a Joe, yet. (emphasis on the "yet") But, I did destroy a Transformer's knife, trying to dye it. That particular knife had specific geometry, to be able to plug into a few different places on the TF. I'd had a hard time finding that fig, too, thanks to the lack of distribution in this part of Ohio.
I did just start a new bash tonight, so we'll see how that goes. I'm still finishing up widening the shoulders. (Bazooka just wasn't big enough!) I hope this will be the hardest part, and it comes out okay. |

I've tried the screwdriver method to no avil, the "hammering" the corner to no avail, the "applying pressure on the shoulders" to no avail. I usually have to stuck a xacto knife, and wish myself luck. So far, i didn't had much problems (i didn't do that many customs, tho), but the "radiated" SE was only problems. I couldn't crack open the body. Broken my fingers and a blade, and still can't. Finally i got angry and stuck a screwdriver and brutally crack it open (after a few tries!) but the body got a bit warped, and have some huge gaps where the screwdriver stuck in. (this figure seems to have a lot of glue inside) The leg with the knife sheet never closes well, the sheet has some problem and there's a notorious crack. And finally, when finishing the custom, the pegs of the hands broken, leaving me with the loose hand..well in my hand. I almost cried. Luckily, i can fix almost everything, but the time lost with this problems is annoying. |

Back when the original Clone Wars cartoon was out, I decided to make a 'General Obi-Wan' out of a AOTC Obi-Wan and a super-articulated Clone Trooper...
The results were less than spectacular (Obi has a lumpy face... it's a long story) and to make matters worse, now you can buy it. DAMN!!! |

for breaking open torso's I use the channel locks and socket routine, I will try to link the tutorial if i can find it.
Boba Fett: I appreciate your offer friend, I've replaced the feet with Crimson guard feet and actually like the look better. I cant begin to tell you how many times Ive had to paint and re paint. I did a Night creeper custom once (successfully rit dyed), I used a sandviper torso and painted the armour white at least 20 times now. I think the rit dye underneath is bleeding through. At first the white was getting messed up because I didn't clear coat it or the rest of the figure before I began posing it for display.
