I bought an extra Python Patrol Officer during the Target sale and decided to make a Mutt and Junkyard counterpart for Cobra. The officer just had some minor paint changes. The dog came from a generic soldier pack I bought a couple years ago. The dog's pack came from a 1:18th scale soldier I got on clearance at Walmart. The chain and choke collar are made from the fodder bin. The chain seams to have scratched some of the glove paint when I was setting up the pics so I'll have to fix that. Anyway heres my Cobra dog handler:

I'm surprised Hasbro hasn't repackaged a dog with a Cobra figure. Its a great way to push another Cobra Trooper on us.
But I like the custom. I would paint the dogs eyes red though. |

Cool idea! I like the look of the gloves. Hell I'd paint his web gear to match it, it's a nice color.
What gets me is the last photo. The dogs, Junkyard screaming like the devil and the Cobra Sheepdog, bug eyed and freaked. I have seen dogs do that exact face, and gets me every time. |

It's pretty cool! A good use for the Python peg warmers.

At our TRU, there is a 2-headed mutant wolf type-thing reminiscent of Dioskilos from "Clash of the Titans" that would look great with that. It's not in the action figure aisle, it's with those National Geographic or whatever action figure sets, you know, the boat with the angler fish and shark and all that, in the aisle with the microscopes and whatnot. OK, maybe that's useless information, but anyway...

As suggested I painted the webgear to match. I also painted the kneepads and thigh pouch.
The dog came from a generic soldier pack from Dollar General I bought for the accessories a couple years back. The backpack was an equipment pack from a WWII figure I got on clearance at Walmart. I liked the idea of the dog carrying a pack full of rescue gear. |
