Ha! I'm not trying to be a dick or anything, but you guys got nothing. I've got about 80 different customs that are in different stages of being done, and my stash of stuff takes up almost two rooms. It's almost to the point (sometimes) where I want to shove it all in the truck and haul it away somewhere.
I'll try to organize over the holiday weekend and take some pics if any of you care to see.

I'm just starting to get into customs. Going to be having 4 or 5 going at the same time as I'm mixing and matching parts among those figures.
Source Figure A gives parts to Custom Figure 1 and 3, that kind of thing.

That's how it is for me too. Flint's arms go to Leon, webgear goes to Duke, etc. Plus, doing more than one custom at once gives you something to do while waiting for paint to dry!

In another hobby of mine, wargaming/miniature painting, things like this are referred to as 'figmentia'. I have 3-4 customs going at the moment, but I have shelves and shelves full of minis that are in various stages of completion.

Honestly, it was cool to see that it's not just me, and that customizing = wrecked work area. |

I usually have so many ideas in my head at once, if I don't write them down, or get them started I fear I'll forget a bright idea. lol. For me, this means no less than 30 figures presently at various stages of completion. And it's a momentous occassion when I have one that is truly done. But I always go back on the finished ones too, if I learn a new technique, find a flaw I missed, or find a better part. so using that logic, I might have 80 WIPs also. lol

Right now, I don't have a proper workspace. I just started customizing Joes, but I've already amassed quite a mess.
Luckily, my girlfriend and I have separate apartments, or I doubt I'd have a workspace at all. My coffee table has newspaper down to protect the leather top, but it's covered in little tools and screwdrivers and dremel bits and toothpicks and brushes and tiny screws, and there are ziplocks with tiny losable parts, bottles, "mixed" custom colors, half-assembled figures, then a few "overseers" that haven't made it to the shelf yet, like the Joe Greenshirts. I am trying to finish up my customs today ("working from home", haha) so I can pack it up in boxes at least for a few days for Thanksgiving. I am OCD and the mess bothers me, but not working on my customs would bother me more. Thank God they're not enamel paints I'm waiting on to dry, that crap takes DAYS to cure. Talk about impatience! |
