Thanks for the info, and the good laugh LOL.
but, do collectors really value the artist time? I use to make star wars customs, and very good quality if I do say so myself, but I stopped making them for people becasue no one was willing to pay what the supplies and figures cost much less what my time involved was worth. Has this changed? I am asking because I am interested in getting into consignment Joe customs, but not if my history repeats itself LOL. I have two of mine up on e-bay right now, I put down what I think they are worth and give the option to make an offer. So far no offers but I've had about 60 views on each. People simply do not understand how much money and time goes into making a single figure. I priced my Serpentor custom at around $80 and that barely covers all the costs much less the time I spent making it.

(I didn't want to single anyone out, but.... ) If you've ever seen Jin's custom auctions, they go pretty high. So people are obviously saying that Jin's figures are worth $100 - $150 - $200 and more. Sure, not all of them reach that level, but most do. If you don't feel that you were getting enough for your work, then people didn't think it was as good as you thought it was. I don't mean any offense by that, but it's the truth. Sure, I think my work is pretty good, but when I put a figure up on ebay and it sells for $23 or I have to re-list it twice before it sells for $20, I guess it's not as good as I thought it was. Then again, I always seem to have better results with SW customs than I do with GI Joe. Quote:
I think unless you agree upon the cost before the figure is made and get at least half of it up front, you probably wont see any return on custom figs.

I've found that when I create something just to put it up on ebay, if I set a start price or a BIN price at what I think it's worth, it never sells. However, on figures that I just start at $9.99 I usually end up getting more than the price I had in mind for a BIN. It's all relative, and every collector/fan is different. Everybody has a favorite character. I've seen crappy customs sell for incredible amounts of money and never know why... I guess it was just a popular character. I've seen people that do nothing more than swap a head - literally, something that ANYONE can do with 2 $7 figures - and sell it for $35 or more.
