What's the best way to paint 'em? Do you take 'em apart and do the pieces? Leave them together?

Taking them apart is probablly the best way to paint them. Though I personally hate taking the torso appart, so I just remove the head, and legs when I paint, and the figure comes out fine either way. Try disasembling the figure fully first then see how you feel, its mainly personal preferenace

I'd personally like to not take anything apart. I'm just worried about the joints getting stiff when the paint dries.

Taking the entire figure apart is usually the best way to go. I normally take apart the entire figure, Dremel and sand the shoulder joints. Boil and pop the lower arms and dremel and sand the elbow joints, and do the same with the feet. I also like to dremel down the top of the leg where they fit in the waist to reduce paint chipping. After all that prime and paint the figure and finally seal the figure with a clear coat.

I take them apart. You can get an even coat of paint inside the joints and it looks better overall. My question to you all is...what type of paint is the best, lacquer or acrylic?

I mostly use Acrylic Citadel paints for my figures.

Why dremel the joints? Is this to help remove them? Spray clear coat or brush? Thanks

Its to give room for the new layer of paint. Most of the joints in the Joe figures are basically friction joints which require friction from the 2 pieces rubbing against each other to keep the joints tight. When you add on an extra layer of paint it makes the joints super tight, which is what causes paint chips in the joints. By sanding down the joints you give the new layer of paint and clear coat some room to rub but not so much that it chips off.

How long do you let 'em dry before putting 'em back together again?
