I just go with patiently painting the separated parts thin coat by thin coats until the color is homogenous already and has the factory feel to it

I also liek to soak the fig in dish soap to get the coating off the fig so the paint stick and flows better. I have noticed a difference already. I havent sanded any joints but as far as taking the fig completely appart. I don't do it unless I have to. I think one of the best pices of advice is to have nice/new brushes and quality paint. Carnage can you show us what exactly you use to sand the joints down with ? THX

As far as painting goes after I finish painting with the acrylic paint I use an acrylic cleat coat which I spray on each individual part and let all the parts dry for a couple hours sometimes longer depending on the weather. After they are nice and dry will I put the entire figure back together. Before gluing the torso back together I bend all the joints just to make sure I have no paint rubbing on the joints. If I get no paint rubbing I superglue the torso back together.

I just get the paint & a brush & go at it. To hell with taking it apart. Taking it apart is a huge waste of time! If you wanna hit a joint evenly just paint one side, let it dry & then hit the other side. If you don't want brush strokes just make sure the paint is thin enough. If you don't want it to scratch off in the joints just sand the joints before painting. It's easy as hell. A lot people make such a huge friggin deal out of customizing. They have to take it apart, primer it, then paint it,then hug it & squeeze it & name it George, then use sealer, then buff it, then polish it. Bah! If you use the right paint you can just skip all that garbage & tear right into it.

I don't take them apart unless I'm replacing parts. After that, the figure is fully assembled when I paint them. The ONLY thing you would need to worry about are joints, and the tutorial I linked shows how to fix that. The rest of Jin's tuts are useful too. No need to primer and seal if you use the right paints. Last edited by Bamphalas; 11-06-2008 at 05:22 PM.. |
