This is simply the most amazing thing I have ever seen. Would have rather seen the Pukin' Dogs squadron used, but Jolly Rogers are one of the core F-14 squadrons.
I have intentions of doing the same/similar custom work. I plan on different armaments, but the core customizing will be the same. I have been a Tomcat fan since childhood. When the Skystriker came out in '83 It was under our Christmas tree waiting for me. I dumbly customized it a couple of years later to mimic the veritech fighter (cut off the elevators and painted the ailerons/rudders black). Now that I have one in the house again, I plan on making it a better toy than it is. I want to do the same thing to the wings and gear. I'm glad I can use your experience to make mine work. I want to cut off the all missile mounts and re-use them. I want to try to make mounting brackets to make a toy version of the AIM-9 and AIM-7 racks that sit at the wing rotation points. I want to try and fit the AIM-54s under the belly out of the way of the gear. I also will duplicate the drop tank set-up. I have 2 engines that already have the nozzles broken off, so I should be able to make new nozzles. I will also add a tail hook but mine will probably be a lot more crude. Once retrofitted, I plan to paint it in skysriker colors and make the ailerons/rudders black. I hope to get a set of the custom stickers seen here somewhere (with the white eagles on the red circular field). When complete, it should be a playable (to an extent) Skystriker that can be launched, landed and stored on the Flagg with ease. Again, congrats on the great custom. I'd love to do a comparison flight some day once my Skystriker is ready (maybe we can take in-flight pics and put the birds together on the same background like they are flying together).

Why can't hasbro spend a little more time on the detail of the vehicles like this. I would gladly pay more for them if they looked like this......these are awesome.

Don't even get me started haha! I know someone in my local area who has one and was at one point selling it. What would I do with it? I would make it probably another 4 feet longer, Install four sets of functioning arresting cables... I'd modify the height of it to accomodate 7 or 8 Sky strikers plus a couple helicopters internally, Fully functioning elevators. The top surface of the deck I can imagine being done with 'grip tape' like material to simulate the actual thing. Add Sea Sparrow launchers Aft and include 4 MK-15 CIWS Phalanx defense systems (aka the Artoo DeeToo Guns) Internally: Combat Information Center, Crew Quarters, Galley, A Brig (gotta control some of them drunken Sailors and Marines coming back from Liberty - Cobra prisoners beware) Add Mike Boats...Internal Lighting... and figure some way to put realistic sound effects within.) About 6 months ago, I found pics on the web where some French dude was building an actual 1/18 scale aircraft carrier for his bbi F/A-18s... I'll have to find those again. But yeah, don't put me near a USS Flagg, cuz it will be on!

Hey man, are you going to customize the recently released PTE SU-27 and turn it into your namesake? |

Shin...You better BELIEVE IT. I scoured TRU, and Big Lots! Where are these things to be found? When the MiG-29 comes out, The first thing I'm gonna work on is the working LEX intake louvres and FOD doors. But since the 27 is out...I can't see how I could not! If you know of what channels to acquire one...forward the intel!
