Finally got around to taking pix of a few new customs, so here we go -
COBRA DIVER Basically a repaint, just for fun. Added the helmet(not sure who it's from), and modded some of the stock gear. I think it turned out well. BLACK WIDOW NINJA Again, just a repaint with a sculpted mask/hood and gauntlets, as well as one of my swords. Simple custom, but sometimes that's all you need. RAVEN NINJA Another repaint with a sculpted hood and gauntlets, brandishing my "chopper" blade. Again, simple custom trying out different hood/mask concepts. BLACK NINJA More of a classic Ninja, using different parts for different looks. You can't have every Ninja running around wearing the exact same outfit, right? This guy has Quick Kick's upper legs, and Ship Wreck's upper arms. QK's baggy pants looks a little more authentic, imo. The BLACK NINJA is also carrying my latest Ninja-To, which has a real beveled edge with appropriate "hamon" line painted. I was almost able to put a sharp edge on this blade, which surprised me actually. After all, it's only styrene plastic. Thanks for lookin', and enjoy! Great stuff Bro! The diver is sweet, Guillotine's helmet? The new hooded guys rule, dig their bases too. Were you ever into miniature board games? Great parts ideas for the last one, i would have never thought to use Shippy's arms. The new sword is awesome, cool looking tsuba and it looks real sharp.

Those bases were just experiments really. I've always wanted to do textured stands/bases, and have done 1-2 for Star Wars. I had to try something a little more "Earthly" for the Joe stuff.
Yeah...I had that helmet laying around, never liking anything I could have used it for, until I made the Diver. It's perfect for Cobra frogmen, imo. It just looks evil, ya know? Since I started painting the tsuba's Gloss Black, it really brings out the piece, compared to the rest of the handle and fittings. And the tsuba shape/design helps out too! Now to try making a tsuba with more complex patterns...that's the goal. My work is never done... |
