I've thought about building one and I would go with a combination Pit from the comic book with a cartoon style HQ at ground level. The best of both worlds.

we have been toying around with the idea of having sub levels. the hanger will hopefully have space to fit atleast a skystryker and a conquest. there will be a front door to fit a awe striker and a vamp. and of course space in the building for offices training rooms and armaries. among other rooms.

The only problem with the cartoon is that there is no definitive inside layout. See the outside, but nothing inside. There wasn't anything that really defined the land around it.
The Pit would be awesome, but then what Pit do you do? I, II, or III?

Sounds wicked, i like the the HQ from the comic. In the cartoon, Cobra always knew where the Joes HQ was, they could attack at anytime. Where as in the comic it was an underground secret base, which just seemed much cooler to me. So mines always been the comic version.
