This is a quick post to share more of my new attempts at painting. Roadblock is a tried and true build that been around for more than awhile. He's the first figure I did both legs and torso. Painting white is a "fun" challenge.
I put him next to my Custom Character, Rough Shot, to show that they are not the same person. Actually I passed RS's helmet to RB and painted RS's legs to better match his new helmet. I haven't attempted to paint a whole human face but I did paint Stalker's knit cap and I tried to fix his crosseyed self with mixed results. I tried this to make him look more like version 2 Tundra Stalker. His camo pants and the rest are factory. I also gave his rifle a wrap to tie him more into the Tundra Stalker look. Version 2 of Stalker and Roadblock were my favorite versions of the characters. I never got their first versions. Stalker's jacket in intentionally less white than Roadblock's Shirt because I wanted him to fit well next to my original character Sherpa. I'm posting these mainly to help me track my progress in painting. Cheers!

This looks pretty badass. I like the use of the JoyToy accessories.

I'm going to switch Stalker back to a black coat, but leave the knit cap brown/tan. I like that look better.

Bro do you really look at that stalker and go im proud of that? That’s lazy work.
Paint is messy and spoltchy as hell, the gear works Becuase it’s been pre painted, and the build is ok at best. This isn’t negative this is being honest. You can do better. Take my criticism as a tool for growth. We need more of that in this community to help each other grow.

Any suggestions or techniques for smoother paint application, Slice? Because that would be constructive criticism.
The Stalker head looks good, BD. I didn't notice the eyes looking off, and re-doing them at that scale is really difficult, so nice work. Did you do the camo work on the pants? Looks good. Did you also do the entire top in white, or was it white/tan and you did a wash?

As far as eyes go, I?m unorthodox so my way might not work . I paint them upside down. And for gods sakes stop it with the washes. If you don?t now how to use it, it fucks up a clean paint job.

YES! The Insufferable One is back! God's gift to customizing has finally graced me with his counsel from on high...I really need a Wayne and Garth gif right now.
You made some valid points, but you also made assumptions. I use a good amount of water in the paint. Finding the right mixture takes time, trial and error I guess. I stated at the beginning, this is to track my progress as I practice and gain experience. I don't expect to get great results my first try. You know experience is a better teacher than even real constructive criticism. As for whether or not you truly intended to only be constructive, only you know your own intentions. If you're not sure you can ask yourself, "Would I have given that advice the same way to somebody I like?" If the answer is no, then it's not looking good for your intentions (or integrity for that matter). As for the delivery: it was objectively flawed. Constructive criticism usually has a distinct lack of insults. Try reading back through this post as a better example of giving criticism constructively; minus the sarcasm at the beginning. An insult, on the other hand would be: For some one who's signature says "true art speaks for itself" you sure do a lot of yappin'. That was not constructive and not truly relevant to the discussion. If you need any more tips on feedback feel free ask someone else. I don't think you're ready to take my help to heart.

Oh, dang, man, I didn't recognize your username until I checked your custom thread. You do some cool stuff. I think the best part, is all of your figures looks playable. One of the reasons I mainly stick to customizing statues and McFarlane-type figures, is I don't want to deal with paint rub. Keep up the cool builds.
