Finally completed (thank you, Hasbro, for bringing me Duke's head on a Renegades platter)! ;)
For fans of Hama's classic comic series--as well as Uber-Fans of Snake Eyes (even the haters might appreciate this one), I bring you... Snake Eyes from issue #104! This is the SE version that was under the Arishakage mindset trance--placed by Storm Shadow--to get his mind off of Scarlett, who was in a coma and apparently succumbing to death. Storm Shadow sent him on a dangerous mission to rescue his sister's former fiance, George Strawhacker, a U.S. spy, who has been captured in Borovian gulag, left to rot by the "Jugglers." This version shows SE with his face revealed--complete with 2 scars, remains of his once destroyed face, now surgically repaired--as well as a tan trenchcoat. He also comes with the George Strawhacker file that he recovered in Borovia, as well as his briefcase that contains another broken-down weapon, ready to go. To complete this figure, I used: The 25th anniversary figure of the original V3--the one with the removable chest knives. I removed the SE head and the arms. I replaced the arms with the arms of the movie version of Cobra Commander, as well as the trenchcoat. After carving off the silver molded weapon on the arms, I added the lines/cordoroy look to the sleeves, and painted them--along with the trenchcoat--a tan color to match the comic art. After taking apart the figure and putting the arms and trenchcoat on, I turned to the briefcase, where I cut apart a similar looking weapon and added it to the inside case, along with the rounds of ammo that he later dons in issue #105. Next, I found a pic of someone in chains on the web, and shrunk the pic down and added the written summary that was found in the file in the comic. Once I had this done, I made a mini file folder, and the Strawhacker file was complete! Finally, I waited and was rewarded with the ultimate head...Renegade Duke! This head is perfectly sculpted with eyes that stare right through you and a you-don't-want-to-mess-with-me demeanor...perfect for SE. After carving the two scars into his face with an exacto blade, I very carefully used a pin and applied a pinkish hue to his scars. YES!!!!! My 9 year old son and I did this together, and it was an awesome bonding experience. I added a Gnawhyde (dreadnok) hat to compliment the comic further, and just couldn't help myself but add Duke's gas mask to the accessories (it is EXACTLY like the gas mask I had when I was in the USAF!). I had one MAJOR issue to contend with: the neck on Duke Renegades is about 1/2 cm longer than the neck on the Snake Eyes version I was using. And I didn't realize this until I was all done and placing the head. He looked like a dude with absolutely NO neck. AUUGHHHH!!!! To say the least. I solved it by cutting the "ball" joint off the Duke neck and placing it in the Duke head...then glueing the Duke head onto the SE neck, thus gaining proper neck height...but losing ability to turn. That was okay for me, seeing as how this is a display piece I only plan on showcasing as pictured below. Still, a bit of a bummer, as that was a clear oversight I had not counted on. Finally--the DEAD version of Crimson Guard Fred series VI is a repost of the work that my son did COMPLETELY ON HIS OWN! This is the same Fred VI from issue #31, who showed up behind the waterfall dead in issue #91, left there by the Joes. Especially the detail he added to show the bone structure, as well as the setting--the exact message the Joes scrawled out of respect for their enemy is present on the rock face wall. I hope you enjoy viewing our final product as much as we do!

Looks really nice and clean, might be the photos but the head looks a little large.

Yeah, I see what you mean--but it's just the photo. I thought the same thing myself when I posted the pic. I was shooting from slightly above the figure, trying to show the face as close as my outdated camera would allow with focusing (and still the sun interfered--should've moved downstairs). Look at the entire figure, and you should notice the head size is appropriate. Not a problem in person!

LOVE IT! And Im not SE fan.
When I extend neck joints, I take the one I snipped and the one on the neck joint of the fig and flattend them down by sanding them. This allows them to sit on one another. I score the flattened parts on each to allow the glue to bond the two pieces. Let them set for a while then place the head on the top joint.
