Here is the start of my first attempt at customizing something. Big ups to CIAD for the hot tips.
The WOLF visually was in somewhat rough shape, but structurally it is solid so I thought I'd paint it. I took off the stickers and got as much of the residue off as I could (soap and hot water, rubbing alcohol, etc.). I cleaned it and took it apart. I went and purchased my supplies last night. Gray primer, silver aluminum paint, flat black paint, and the clear matte finish About an hour ago I primed every piece except the 2 canopies. I plan on painting the body, 2 treads, and 2 wheels with the flat black. The 4 missiles, 2 torpedoes, front ski, 2 side skis, roof gun, and the main bottom piece with the seats will be painted with the silver aluminum. I looked for a red/orange that would be close to the Night Force color, but no such luck so I thought the silver aluminum was the next best choice out of the navy blues, greens, and other meh colors. I'm going to let it dry overnight and do some painting tomorrow. Thoughts?

Looks like a well thought out custom to me. I noticed that you picked up your paints at Walmart. Did they not have the red-orange color you were looking for in anyother paint brand?

yea, I went with those paints on CIAD's recommendation. That the Krylon Fusion is the best, but the walmart ones work well, too. The Fusion ones were 4 times as much. I did get the Krylon clear coat matte because the other brand didn't have that. They had rustoleum brand, but I thought the silver aluminum would look cool. Can rustoleum be used on plastics? I didn't think it could. Regardless, I thought the metal looking weapons and such would look more realistic than red/orange.

the silver looks great! does it dry quickly? i tried metallics on plastic before and it never seemed to dry completely as it would leave residue on your fingers from touching it. obviosuly, i think i just used the wrong kind of paint but i've avoided metallics all the same. after seeing this i may have to give them another shot.
again, i'd have to wait and see how it all fits together but that is a huge color contrast going on there. it's hard to pull those schemes off well in my opinion.

thanks. the silver aluminum seems a little thicker/heavier to me. everything is drying now and I'm going to put a second coat on in a couple hours. black was the main color I wanted and I kind of settled on the silver aluminum as the second color. I thought it would give it a more realistic type look.
I know the color is called silver aluminum, bit I'm not sure if it's a metallic type paint unless that company doesn't categorize them like that or if it's just a color...if that makes any sense. It looks metallic to me so I guess it is. Seems to take a little longer to dry. Krylon had paints that specifically said metallic along with other categories. I think it will look better than it did since it had yellowing and such, but it is my first attempt at a custom so I'm sure it may not look how I expected lol.

regardless of my comments, keep up the work! i've done many customs that others simply did not like for reasons of thier own. it did not disuade me in the least from continuing with my projects.
