Cool, thank for sharing.
I would think you can easily make a bunch out of balsa wood. Plus it's so soft that you can cut it with an exacto blade. And then do some cool weathering. |

I was asked to add some logos to the graphics like I had on my base.
I went ahead and used the regular logo, as apposed to my G.I. Joe vs. TFormers logo. So here is G.I. Joe, any thoughts? And I want to make graphics of a different color for Cobra. Looks like in the cartoon that they consistently used a purple background. See JPEG, what do you think? |

I like it, I like it a lot. I'd like to see it in a silver or light grey color. I think that would rock!

Not that I want to tell anyone how to do their job, but how is it possible that this amazing creation has not been "front paged"?
Joe, the new additions are great (I start mine this weekend... Yahoo!), but I'd really love to have the floor and wall the patterns you used for the vehicle armory. That is just too damn cool! Anyone who is not doing one of these is just crazy! It's too damn gorgeous! Joe, what do you cut your foam core with to get such flush edges? Is it just an exacto and a T square and your talent or do you use a special cutter? I made a foam core structure that was supposed to be a cobra bunker some time ago, but I found detailing it with styrene sheets and other bits to be too tedious so I let it go by the wayside- I would love to have a pattern of this high craftsmanship to coat the outside of a structure like that! I was never into the foam core/ photoshop generated covering thing until I saw this! Excellent! |

The credit goes to Mandingo Rex for working on this with me.
I put the graphic files on my site for download, their free: http://www.joeamaro.net/Base.html Thanks for the feedback, I was unsure of the purple, maybe a blue to gray, Red or rust might also be cool. I'll try different variations. You can download which ever one you like better. I'll do one with the original logo as well. The vehicle armory uses the same green for the walls. I'll put something together for you for the floor. I just use an X-Acto knife for the cutting along with a long metal ruler. The trick is not to try to make the cut in one pass, rather run it a couple of times. And change your blade often! Always run the blade on the side you are not going to use, just in case you slip. PLEASE be careful with the X-Acto, especially if you have kids. I have a nasty scar on my hand from 6 stitches. I'll post more pics tomorrow and all the new files for download. |
