Disclaimer: I was not a Golden Ticket Holder, I was fortunate enough to get one of everything for myself and a few extra figure packs for friends, and I must stress that this is not the thread to cry about what you were or were not able to purchase. If you missed out on something, that sucks. It really does. But, check your baggage at the door. You’re allowed to bitch about it but please don’t do so here, thanks in advance...
------------ Before I left Florida to head back to the land of the MASSholes, I was sitting in my room with my roommate discussing his disappointment on missing the chance to buy the carded Dial Tone. He arrived very late Thursday night and woke very early Friday morning. He was the very next person in line behind the person who bought the last Dial Tone. He was able to get everything else but also mentioned that he should've gotten there earlier or at least woken up earlier and skipped breakfast. During this discussion we came up with an idea. I'd like to know what you guys think and if any of you would be willing to back me up in possibly petitioning FunPub about this idea... The Idea: Suppose the club allowed each attendee the opportunity to Pre-Order ONE set of the souvenirs. I LOVE the anticipation and mystery involved in the souvenirs. There is no way in hell I would want to destroy that part of it so THERE ARE RULES. These rules serve to preserve the state of excitement that exists before the Con and could provide the fairness of each attendee having a chance to get everything. Should an attendee arrive late due to work, plane problems, gonorrhea, diarrhea, dead grandmother, car accident, intoxication, drug abuse, or just plain laziness they will still have the opportunity to get one of each souvenir as long as they make a physical appearance at the Con... The Rules:
So there is it... tear it apart if you want. Like it? Hate it? I really would like to know... Last edited by Tucker; 04-05-2011 at 07:27 PM.. |

asking people to prepay for items that they have no idea what they are is a bad move. too much room for the Club to make crappy exclusives and sell them to the blind pre-orders.
I say, every attendee is set to the same limits. The only difference is a Golden Ticket holder has one of each exclusive waiting for him when he picks up his box set. If he doesn't want to buy the exclusives, he doesn't have to. If he wants to buy the exclusives, he can at that point. if he wants more than one of each, he'll have to wait in line at the Club store the next day with everyone else. But at least this way, GT holder still has its perks. |

The reason I was thinking this is no matter what the convention souvenirs are, I always buy them just because they go with the boxed set. I figure I can't be the only one who has done this...
And thanks for your feedback by the way. Don't be affraid to insult me, if you think its a bad idea please vote that way... |

I would never insult you. I think you are on the right track, and I respect you for trying to find a better solution. I just don't think that having someone blindly pay for something is ever a good idea.

I would have to agree with Bombardier as for paying for somehting that you have no clue what it is, is a bad idea. Like you I'd most likely get it anyways because it goes with the set
But the club has so much going on as it is. Adding on them having to keep track of who ordered what would be more on there plate. You don't have bad ideas, I just think it would be more work club wise. What should be done though is lines that are roped off |

Okay i havent been to a Joecon yet but i don't think it would bemre work if it was orginized right. So you have people who bought this golden ticket package right and they get it ahead of time so you know how many potintal GT holders you have comming so you just put aside that many sets. same with the other people that preorder but dont get the GT. So you have stuff set aside aside for two diffrent groups. as they come up and show their badge that indicates if the are GT holders or not the guy just puls the set from whichever pile consides.
I think the paying up front is a good idea if you look at it as you buy this ticket package this is what you get with it. If theire is stuff you don't want sell it. Also what ever is left oer they can sell package to walk in so to speak. Not sure i made myself clear wih this but i hope you get the idea of what i'm talking about and excuse my ignorance as i have never been to a show to see how it works.

Ah, pre-orders. Yeah, I remember roundtable sessions of people asking about this. Last time I remember was Dallas. Considering the club just now offered online registration, it may be a while before we see them step up to souvenir pre-orders. Im not making excuses for them. Im just saying they are sort of set in their ways.

I can understand why some think it's not a good thing to buy stuff blindly, but again, for those of us who are going to buy it no matter what it is, I think this sort of thing is the way to go...

I think that could be a good idea.I would just like the pre order to begin after the club has decided what the exclusives are and after the theme of the box set has been announced.I could then decide if I wanted them or not based on the theme.I would also be willing to pay $15 mor for my club membership if the free figure was carded ...just saying
