Once you register and pay, you are guaranteed your set.
I'd try to get there BEFORE registration on Thurs....if you can pull it off. Last year for example, we had the Mech w/Hotwire, ATV w/Bullhorn, and the SWAT 3 pack. In ATL we got the ill fated Tanks w/Steeler and w/RipIt, Jet Pack 2 Pack, and carded Piper. I would not be surprised to see AS MUCH AS a 2 pack, a 3 pack and two vehicles w/ drivers. Myself and a few others have been a part of every Fun Publications/Master Collector run con since they started offering 3/75" sets. Just PM one of the vets (GGPiKE, Alyosha come to mind quickly - or myself) - I personally may not be a fan of the club anymore, but I do enjoy the con and I'd be happy to answer questions.

Alright, so after re-reading the brochure, and picking up some stuff here and there on the 'Tank, it seems to be a lot clearer.
So, to get the Crimson Strike exclusive, I need to pay $280 (assuming I join the club as an Officer), and I will be guaranteed a set, no matter when I get there. If I wish to purchase a bagged set for $150, will signing up for that on the registration form guarantee me that set? I'm assuming it will, so I don't have to get in line super early or something... I have heard something about an extra to go along with the set... last time it was a Crimson HISS tank, which you get ONLY if you pick up your set(s) in person. If I get a boxed and bagged set, would I get 2 of this mystery 'vehicle'? This is FREE, right? From the brochure: "Make sure you are there for package pick-up on Thursday night so that you won’t miss this year’s souvenirs! These souvenirs will feature members from the highly sought after G.I. Joe international teams." If this follows previous year's souvenirs, this will likely be a 3 figure set, right? This is also FREE if I get the Crimson strike set, correct? And once again, will I be able to get 2 if I get a bagged and boxed set? Will I get anything else for free with my sets? The rest of the exclusives will likely be vehicles w/ drivers, correct? And these are pretty damn expensive too, right? How limited are these, and when are they sold, Thursday night? Also, will most people in the morning be able to get a parachute dropped fig, or will it resemble a melee? lol Alright, hopefully this will resolve a lot of the confusion concerning the convention exclusives and such... |

Last year attendees got a free figure at check in. One Figure. Loose set does not get you another. GI Joe - 2008 Convention - rare Headhunter Driver - eBay (item 150341793343 end time Apr-29-09 18:20:56 PDT) From the brochure: "Make sure you are there for package pick-up on Thursday night so that you won’t miss this year’s souvenirs! These are the exclusive figures that will sell out and must be purchased. And I want to say there is a limit placed on the number you can purchase until like Saturday if any are left over. |

A hearty pat on the back for making your first con and since you are a n00b, you will be buying the drinks - so free drinks for us. Quote:

Nope, there may be clarity a little here, but there will always be confusion.

Dude, thank you very much.
Quote:
yup
yup Yes and no....last time was the Headhunter Driver. In ATL it was a VAMP, in SF it was mini subs. Last year was the first time it was a figure. Every other year it has been a small vehicle with the exception of the HISS and VAMP. It is one per boxed set if I remember, and they are free. Expectations should be kept low on the freebie. NO....the Convention Souvies are NOT free. Last year we had two vehicles with drivers and a 3 pack. It all depends on what the club can find tools for. Sometimes it is more, sometimes it is less (ie no Tanks in ATL). A hearty pat on the back for making your first con and since you are a n00b, you will be buying the drinks - so free drinks for us. Not always vehicles. Yes, they are expensive (ie 3 pack is $65). They are limited to a couple hundred each. Typically we don't know until they show us at registration time. You can buy them immediately once you get your set and badge. One piece of advice - buy them as early as you can. Do not hesitate. The dropped figures (this year will be 12") are always for the kids. You can buy your own at the club store or get on the list of voluenteers to throw these. Nope, there may be clarity a little here, but there will always be confusion. |
