I love JoeCon. It's the one time of the year I get to see all of my friends whom I've met through all of the various boards. There is plenty to do, not a lot of time to sleep, and a lot of things to spend some $ on. I'm not a huge 25th fan, but it seemed like they had some stuff there. It will probably be a lot more this year. Honestly the number one reason I go to JoeCon is for the people. The con set is always nice, but it's the celebration of a hobby you love with a ton of people.
JoeCon is really what you make of it. If you go there just to find a deal, or buy a toy, you're not really going for the right reasons, and are probably better off saving money and staying at home. Those of us that go every year always look forward to see new people show up and try to make everyone we meet feel welcome and be a part of the good times. We go out to lunch, dinner, hit the bars and clubs, and just generally have a good time when we're not in seminars or on the showroom floor. Last year our room "hosted" what turned into a big party (for a hotel room) for the G4 guys who were there shooting that segment for Attack of the Show. We probably had 30 some people in the suite. If it's your first time going, ask around, look for larger groups of people hanging out and try to get involved. It will make your con experience richer and memorable. Drop me a PM and I'll make sure you can find us when you're there. At some points our group consists of members from nearly every Joe board online. brilliant ggpike. you stole the words right out of my fingers. look foward to every year, this will be my 6th joe con. picking up vintage, exclusive, and current joes, are all perks to the people. meeting old friends and meeting new ones is the best part whilst partying with peeps with the same freaky interest as you. the seminars and sneak peeks are awesome as well. i went to the one in kc in 01 and i live here now in 09. i live 1/2 mile from the hotel but i am still staying there. just to have a room as a home base and be able to hang out with everyone and be right there. if you do drive as i always do, highly recommended, bring 3 to 4 empty plastic bins for your loot! |

Staying at the hotel does have its advantages. I'm not sure I'd like to go if I couldn't stay in the con-hotel. It wouldn't be the same. Even if Joe-con came to my town, I'd too still rent the room. Meeting the people is the biggest part. The con-exclusives are just icing on the cake. Not too many vacations I can think of that can offer such cool souveniers. Hands down though the best part is to be around so many other people that 'get it'.

kansas is too far for me. from what i've heard the exclusives there are always ARAH molds anyway. something about them not allowed to do 25th items. i knowthe canadian con has 25th this year i guess there's a different deal with them or somethin?
i would still like to make it to the u.s. convention someday. maybe if it comes to detroit or ny!

I'm looking forward to this, even though there has been no new news on it since March 25th. I was speaking to a couple of local toy store managers about it and the rumors there hearing are for the main cast of the movie and someone name Larry H. =o)
Just take those as rumors only for right now, but there were rumors since last year that Ray Park was going to be in KC this year for a Con, and he wasn't at Planet ComiCon |

And about this, I have some questions on how that all works. I understand you have to pay $280 for that set (if you're a member of the GIJCC), but what ELSE do you get at the Con? And to get the other stuff, do you have to buy that set, or do you get it for just attending? I heard something about a 3-figure set or something... |

This year's exclusives are in the 25th style.

What's the Sergeant's package? Are those the loose bagged figures or just random bits of junk that have nothing to do with the figures? More importantly, if it is the loose figures, can one just buy those and not have to buy the boxed set?
thanks for any help. |
